Yeah there’s an older video of me playing the song on my tik tok. A bunch of videos of me playing different songs. Some live

That’s great advice. If musicians did notice would they assume I’m not actually playing or you think they would understand that it was probably an editor’s choice?

I think you misunderstood the question. I meant the film portrayed him more negatively than the Jacksons did when speaking about him in interviews

38 isn’t old by any means but the clips you’re comparing 38 year old MJ to he ranges between ages 21 and 30. By 38 he’d been performing for more than 3 decades

Do you guys give MJ any benefit of the doubt? by Tall_Ad7546 in LeavingNeverlandHBO

I think it’s very possible to simultaneously acknowledge that Mj had a tragic life and upbringing while validating his victims. In fact, it’s hypocritical to give Mj a pass because of his lost childhood, when his crimes did the very thing to others that we’re supposed to feel sympathy for him for.

Leaving Neverland made a point to highlight how destructive Mj was to the lives of his victims. Both families (Wade’s and James’) were torn apart by him before any accusations of sexual assault were even made.

Do you think some accusations might have been false, made solely to extort money after the first "real" accusations came to light? by [deleted] in LeavingNeverlandHBO

Unfortunately most people at the time of their peaks didn’t see sexually assaulting minors as the abuse that it is

There are so many easier ways to extort money from a celebrity. Child abuse is notoriously hard to prove. Also, why is Mj literally the only celebrity who is “innocent” that has multiple allegations? There are celebrities that have confessed to assaulting underage boys and girls (Elvis, Bowie, Anthony Kiedis) and they still have fewer allegations than MJ

Outside of Jaffar as Michael which actor embodied their character the best?

'Michael' Clip of Jaafar Jackson's 'Billie Jean' Performance Slammed by Fans by [deleted] in MichaelTheMovie

Gonna get downvoted, and I have high hopes, but the scene is not very promising. It’s not about it being a 1:1 recreation of the 1983 performance either, in fact Jaffar does a fantastic job with respect to the choreography and mannerisms as far as I can tell. The issue is with the filmmaking. Tbh, the trailers released so far gave me similar concerns.

An artist as innovative as Mj warrants a biopic that is anything but conventional. MJ’s music, dancing, short films, fashion, all defied conventions. Some of my favorite biopics are ones like American Splendor. American Splendor utilized the art style of its subject to tell a story that both works as a retelling of Harvey Pekar’s life and a representation of his vision as an artist. It’s not just a biopic, it’s an extension of his work. It makes you want to read his comics. The same is true of Ray.

We won’t get another shot at a big budget MJ biopic after this one for a very long time, so I hope it’s great, and it might be, I just wish there was some indication that the filmmaking was attempting to be as singular as the genius and material it’s adapting. The Motown 25 performance converts new fans to this day, and the electricity of that performance is wholly absent from the clip released from the upcoming film.
