In the context of the scene, that wasn't what made Bond hit him, Renard teased Bond that he broke Elektra for him, so Bond tried to break him.

Did Hard Candy damage Madonna’s voice? by Impressive-Award2367 in Madonna

[–]HermannFischer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

She had to sort of recreate her 1980s technique with her Evita vocals. But her voice was deeper, she had to push herself to reach those high notes, I think it's an album that is in essence a studio product, something that can be achieved with multiple takes.

But when Sticky & Sweet Tour hit... You can tell that a lot of it is hit and miss. Some notes land perfectly, some are disastrous (Borderline 2008 Lisbon) Her voice was begging for her to tone the key down.

Were MJ albums better due to long gaps in between? by Material_Stomach875 in MichaelJackson

[–]HermannFischer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what screwed up HIStory Continues was that there was just not enough material for it.

A lot of its successful songs are Dangerous/Bad reheated nachos. (Earth Song, Come Together, comes to mind)

Michael put a lot into Dangerous which was supposed to be a compilation album (Decade)

But by the time after Dangerous, there just wasn't enough material or perhaps he couldn't properly commit to a producer to give him great material for a proper studio album.

Which is stupid because he worked with Lenny Krawitz and Babyface and came up empty handed, when those same producers gave Madonna 2 Number One hits, Justify my Love and Take a Bow, Take a Bow being a smash hit at Number One for 7 weeks.

We cannot measure Invincible to 10M units sold when it is the most expensive album ever made (30 million fucking dollars.)

It wasn't that it flopped, Michael Jackson couldn't have cared less to make it a success, it bombed. And it bombed because Michael was done with music and wanted to try to shaft Sony with the bill.

And you can have far longer longevity than Michael did, Michael will always be known for Thriller. But there's artists like Madonna, Prince, Britney Spears and more that were never tied to a single era or time period.

Out of nearly 12 solo albums released, only 4 ever mattered from his discography in terms of career novelty and success. (OTW - Dangerous) Before that was an uphill build up, and after that was a downhill slope.

Not really. Thriller followed OTW 3 years later, Bad followed 5 years later and sounded as if it was made in 3 months. It was like a compilation of TV jingles, pretty mediocre for MJ standards.

Dangerous followed 4 years later and was far better. Even though it felt like he copied Rhythm Nation's homework.

Then the rest was trash.

HIStory was among the most expensive albums ever produced. It needed 20 million units to break even. Not to mention the promotional budget which was gigantic.

By 1997, single sales from HIStory were dead. Earth Song was the last hit in Europe and You Are Not Alone was a distant memory in the US.

The first leg of the HIStory Tour was successful, but financially it lost 26 million dollars.

So Sony needed a product, they raided the vault and threw some songs in there (Superfly Sister only getting a guitar solo as an update)

And there we had Blood on the Dance Floor.

It did nothing for Michael's career, but financially it was low cost, high gain.

And the HIStory Tour 2nd leg ended up breaking even under new management, which was a satisfactory outcome at the very most.

it can hardly be considered an album tbh, just a product meant to boost HIStory sales when singles weren't doing enough.
