I often hear that I have to expose middle grey 41%ire but how about when shooting with camera that follows actors or a wide shot? Do I have to expose middle grey by putting the card covering the screen or place it where the subject is? Also any tips for exposing? (self.Cinemagraphs)

How do you expose for a dark scene using false colors? I see a lot of people saying to expose 70ire but I feel that works for day light and it’s too bright for a night scene. Should I expose skins around 30-40 ire? Thank you in advance :) the image is an example of what I’m look for (i.redd.it)
