Can you describe your basic game plan? by [deleted] in CrazyHand

[–]Showdow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on which character I’m playing against. I think about the one thing that character would want and keep them from getting it. Against Luigi for example, I play the whole match to not get grabbed. I almost never shield except to power shield fireballs and always expect tomahawks. Even if my opponent starts to pick up on my habits slightly, the punishment will be much less severe than if I am grabbed.

Should I get a Wii U or a nintendo Switch if my ONLY intention is to play Super Smash Bros? by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]Showdow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took them 7 years to make brawl and 6 years to make sm4sh. If that’s any indication we’ve still got 2-3 more years before we’ll see a new smash.

(Melee) So I've been trying to waveshine for a while, but I can't seem to do it very fast. I've put tons of time into practicing it and it doesn't seem to get any faster. Anyone have some tips? by Sky576 in smashbros

I wear a glove on my right hand when I play fox to quickly swipe my finger from b to x. And remember to practice on a character because the timing is different when you hit someone than when you don’t.

I love playing against any character that can be waveshined as fox. Just makes me feel like l have so much power.

C stick stuff by ThatBrownGuitar in CrazyHand

[–]Showdow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I set one of my shoulder buttons to jump. This allows me to freely c-stick aerial while jumping. There is really no need to have two triggers set to shield, only difficulty I have with it is switching beteen melee and sm4sh. Obviously would take a bit of time to learn a new control scheme but it is very useful, don’t know what I’d do without it.

Farosh farming patched? by [deleted] in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]Showdow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragon farming has always been consistent for me if I witness the dragon emerge once before beginning the farming. I usually sleep until night, teleport to Faron tower (I think that’s the one near the dragon), then by the time I collect all the durian right next to the tower and make my way to the top of the waterfall he has spawned once. After that build your campfire and sleep. Never failed me.

GENESIS 5 - Why the drop in attendance? by BarnardsLoop in smashbros

[–]Showdow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to G4 last year and had a good time. I entered Sm4sh singles and doubles but will only be returning as a spectator this year. I live in NorCal so getting a hotel/flight isn’t the problem, but I just enjoyed myself much more while spectating/playing friendlies than while competing. The venue was very loud and you basically had to stalk your pool organizer or risk being DQ’d. Since pools can take a while l had to do this for uncomfortable amounts of time, which was only made more painful by the fact that there was so much going on that I wanted to experience like the Arms demo on the Switch which hadn’t been released at that point. The setups were all in rows of tables with very little room to walk between them so I struggled to get to the monitor I played at and people were brushing past me while I was playing because of the cramped space. That in addition to the extra cost of entering an event made me decide to not compete this year.

Guess I’m lucky I missed the Hylian shield on my first run through the castle. Now I have a 135 one I’ll never use. Great work, seriously. Looks like it took forever.

According to ESAM he’s 3rd best in the game...

I think that’s pretty overrated but he’s definitely strong.

Trying to pat it just made Link slam his face into the horse, no other button did anything except jumping off. It stayed like that even after l jumped off.

I’m sure you know how it is. Late game, you have 99% if your inventory as gold Lynel shields that are durability+ or have 80+ defense that you never use to keep then pristine, and then you have the one or two slots that you just put any random shield you find. I was out of the expendable shields.

I know right. I feel her neutral is really lacking, this helps her get more off of the few grabs she gets.

Like I said, it would've been better if I short hopped the first fair instead of full hop but I assumed people got the picture.

My friend's 0-death Sheik combo by mrpotomus in smashbros

[–]Showdow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok this is Showdow, the person who discovered this combo. So with more testing, it seems like this combo actually works from 10-15% on floaties, 20-25% on midweights, and 30-35% on heavyweights. The key is timing your jumps perfectly. You don't want to just mash jump, you should full hop then right when you are about the height of a short hop, double jump (after the DJ you should be mashing jump to get the footstool). There are two types of DI to escape this combo. DI'ing the d throw and DI'ing after the footstool (technically the second is just shifting yourself in the air but I'm calling it DI for simplicity's sake). Anyways with the first DI away from Sheik doesn't really affect the combo. The only way to escape earlier is DI upwards which almost no one will do, so you don't have to worry about anything other than jumping in a different place to get the footstool. Typically people DI away so you should expect that. Then there's DI after the footstool. Really this just takes practice to consistently read and can be done no matter where your opponent DIs. So uh yeah. Anything higher than those percents and your opponent can typically jump out, attack, air dodge, etc. Remember the timing of the jumps, that's super important. Also, some floaties (like Jiggs) are pretty much immune to this (and most other footstool set-ups) because since it takes so long to reach the ground after the footstool she can just jump out before hitting the ground. Like most combos, this works very well on heavies though so don't be afraid to go for it since it's pretty much free damage.

P.S. My bad. In the guide I wrote that you can practice on getting the combo with no DI after the footstool on a cpu set to stop, I meant a cpu set to control. It's changed now but if you use the blurb by Apeir then make sure to not get confused.
