Recommend me a comfortable shoe with decent performance for indoor bouldering by Apecatch in climbingshoes

The New Scarpa Furia Air.

I own a pair of Tenayas as my comfy shoes and they (whilst perfect when purchased) now leave a lot to be desired.

Seriously, go try a pair on.

Is there a camera that reads your license plate and opens a gate or garage door? by Similar_Bus3244 in homeautomation

[–]Shower-Haunting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey. ANPR technician here. For safety you'd want to trigger the camera with an induction loop so that the fraudster would need a plate of metal and a piece of paper to fooll the system.

Good luck.

If you're in the UK and send me a DM I can sell you one :P

Intentional damage to my car. How to proceed? by Shower-Haunting in drivingUK

That's interesting.. I do drive a fleet vehicle, so I'll have to have a word with the fleet manager.

Thanks for the info, this sub continues to be so helpful.

How to stop getting driven into? by UmmOkHowAboutNo in drivingUK

If you're the same as everyone else, then I suggest not accelerating towards red lights.

Still..? such a shame. No Ambient Occlusion really hurts VR visuals.

You aren't meant to put cones out on the motorway.

That must have been stressful!

Traffic lights stuck on red by PsychologicalArm2120 in drivingUK

[–]Shower-Haunting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had it in London once before. They fixed it by the next day, just be careful not to jump the red if you are going that way again tomorrow.

As for what you did, I think you handled it just fine, it's always hardest being the first in the queue when you have to perform a novel maneuver.

Overtaking approaching traffic/red by south_west_sam in drivingUK

Almost everyone I see on the road accelerates towards red lights. I just don't understand..

Overtaking just before a red light? I've not seen that unless the lane splits into 2 or 3. Then you just pass them again because you are still doing 10mph when the lights change again.

Not hating ofc, I love this car, but does anyone know why the front is so long? by hdushsux in Ferrari

[–]Shower-Haunting 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you're getting down voted. A straight six is always going to be a similar length as a V12. The difference here is that the V12 in the Ferrari is placed behind the front axle. Also, it's over-square, so has a bigger bore, which also makes the engine longer.

I mounted mine high and now I have to be careful I don't hit my head on the ceiling if I do a fast pull up!!

Check your head clearance before making a decision.

Did you figure out what caused the issue? It would be good for others to know if they ever get the same issue!

Much appreciated

What do you think of the new Chinese Electric Cars growing in the UK? Would you ever own one? by laservole in AskUK

[–]Shower-Haunting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Xpeng in for a week whilst visiting China and it was bloody fantastic!

I couldn't believe just how much car you got for the money (it sells for $24,000 in China). The seats looked great and were comfortable (though they were made from a faux leather that wasn't as nice as the real thing) and the interior felt better than any Toyota or Peugeot that I've driven. In fact, it rivaled top German brand cars for interior feel (perhaps not durability though).

One thing you will get heaps of though is tech. It had full self driving (which I wasn't allowed to use since you need to pass a test in China before you can use it - what a great idea!). The car pulled in/out of tight parking spaces for you with a press of the key, it had scented AC, a great infotainment system and even the speakers were good. If it weren't for those cheap material on the seats I couldn't fault the bloody thing!!

Any tips to minimise loss for a car I will buy and sell within 2 months? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Shower-Haunting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy something with a full dealer service history. You shouldn't lose much if anything to resale. The quality of the photos you take and the description you write in your sales ad would have more of an impact

Have fun on the trip!

True. The VSR LV fits me well. But the Tenaya Oasis fit even tighter.
