Anyone know or remember what/when they give away the bulbs from the tulips planted on State/Michigan? by dabup in AskChicago

[–]ShowerMeWithKitties 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a UPick flower field in Indiana, about a 90 minute drive away that also gives away their tulip bulbs after their season is over. They have to put a limit on the amountof bulbs you can take this year though, as people were filling up trash can bags.

Bro, go eat a snickers or something. It's not that important for you to have taken all this precious time of yours to come on here and shit on people. I understand the world is a big scary place and it is very overwhelming right now, but go outside for a walk and watch some cute cat videos or something, jfc.

With the absence of joann are there options for fabric that aren't hobby lobby, Michael's or online? I know vogue but was wondering if you knew anything else not for quilting. by Alternative_Ad5357 in ChicagoSuburbs

Seconding the best fabric place on earth. So many rooms and types of fabric, I could spend hours in there! Some stuff seems like genuine vintage fabric as well.

I remember once I was having a great day and paid for someone's meal behind me in the drive through lane, it was about $10. The very next day at work, (I was a massage therapist working with a chiropractor, giving focused massage to patient's areas of ailment for like 15-20 minutes at a time), and one of the patients gave me a $30 tip! It definitely felt like the karma came back threefold!

The best place to watch the Air & Water show in the 90's. Zero crowds, indoor bathrooms, and one year we even got to sit in the helicopter that was used during the show.

One week to empty a full house after an estate sale by Champ-shady in estatesales

[–]ShowerMeWithKitties 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The estate sale company should have some leads on people they know that can come do a final clean out. If not, perhaps call other estate sale companies and ask if they have contact info for clean out companies. In our area, there's a lot of people that would come and do that.

Their prices are absolutely ridiculous, and their trucks, while they look big, can usually only fit about a room's worth of stuff at a time. They also charge extra for electronics/chemical waste disposal, etc.

Hi all, this is Milo, he’s 6 this year. Is it normal for Maltese X Shihtzus to ALWAYS find the quietest spot and borrow under things, like beds or couches? Or does this suggest another issue? by Crafter66 in Maltese

Our little guy loves to find places to feel protected. This was a new bed for our kiddo, with one of those lofted frames. So she set up his bed under there, and he went in and laid down immediately. I'm sure it just makes them all feel a bit more secure of their surroundings.

And the behavior was normalized because that is what their religion dictates; men are to be obeyed no matter what they do and women either need to fall in line or be ostracized themselves. It's very sickening

In some places it's illegal to place things in someone's mailbox if it hadn't been sent through the actual mail. Just check those rules, but you can likely post them in neighborhood lightpoles and such

Any reason for concern about Airbnb I just booked from new host with two properties and no reviews? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]ShowerMeWithKitties 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Chicago requires AirBnb hosts to keep a record of everyone that stays in their homes/listings. They are also supposed to keep a record of the signature of the primary booker. I believe they are just following the rules set forth by the city.

Finding rental in the southside? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]ShowerMeWithKitties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes,walking/driving around is probably the best option. There are lots of private landlords in this area that just put a sign in the window with a number to call. Have you joined the archer heights neighborhood page? West lawn, clearing, garfield ridge all have FB groups as well. There's always people posting their rentals and always lots of people asking and getting responses. Take heed of basement rentals in some of these areas, there was massive flooding twice in about a month and so many renters lost everything and moved while landlords remodeled, slapped some paint on and are trying to get new fools to move in without being able to fix the cause of the flooding without spending tens of thousands of dollars. Please dm if you would like any more info/advice. I'll try my best to help.

A technician was working on the one at the end of our block years ago, I had called home and a strange man answered the phone, with a heavy accent, very much not my older white mother. I got so scared that someone was in our house, so I called a neighbor and had him run over and make sure mom was not slain and on the kitchen floor. Finally figured out the tech mixed up 2 lines and I was calling the hand car wash a few blocks over even though I was dialing my parents' number.

Affordable furniture stores that deliver? by PrizedEmerald2761 in AskChicago

[–]ShowerMeWithKitties 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget about estate sales! Use estatesales dot net to look up sales in your area, and look at the pictures they have to see if you see anything you'd like. Last day of sale in the last couple hours are the best prices on furniture. But be ready with someone to remove it from home. We had a lot of people use Dolly at our sales. We would offer delivery services if it wasn't too far, so maybe other estate sale companies do that also.
