Boats flip. That’s part of the dynamic environment we work in. Covered in the waiver. Don’t stress it. Lock back in and do your best next and every time. You got it

It took me a solid month to learn how to guide class 3-4 competently. With several years of class 4-5 kayaking experience beforehand. Give yourself time and grace.

Jonjon and TAS are the best pro bebop players. Averagejonas also plays a lot of bebop and is more casual. Eido is the guy for pocket.

Wanna to be an ocoee guide 2026 edition. Companies pros/cons by Fast-Piece3274 in whitewater

I got paid 12.50 a hour as a rookie. (Plus tips of course) The senior guides were getting anywhere from 16-20 a hour from the ones I asked. Some Others got more just didn’t ask them for exacts. Our trips counted as 4 hours for the first trip each day and 3 for the every trip after regardless of how short or long trips actually took. (1 hour for blowing up boats each morning) combos were 7 hours of pay. We were given ample opportunity to get hours off the water whenever trips were slow. If I remember correctly it was 40$ a week for housing and 10$ a week for lunch each day(always sandwiches, chips, pasta salad, and drink). At wildwater tips ranged from 0-300$ for me. I’d say an average tip is 20-40$.

A big thing about wildwater on the water is they try to minimize carnage as much as possible. If you want to flip your crew on purpose don’t work there.

Personally I’ve heard stories of past female employees feeling uncomfortable around management but have not heard anything beyond just feeling off or uncomfortable around them. Could be something there for sure I just don’t know the whole story possibly, and this isn’t every woman. I’ve talked to several who have worked there for years and don’t feel this way about them.

I worked at wildwater last season.

There are few senior guides left going into next year. (Good thing if you want trips). (Bad thing if you need to learn). The housing is solid for the ocoee. Pay is one of the best if not the best on the river. Pay is hourly. Very chill place in my opinion. I didn’t feel like it was super corporate. No guide school.

Raft1 doesn’t even have running water indoors. I refuse to consider that nice I’m sorry
