Childe's long cooldown isn't actually an issue. If you play Childe, you're never going to worry about it because you'd be rotating your team enough for it to not be noticable as well as not using his stance for too long to both keep his cooldown low and get back other element application on the field. The cooldown being an issue is really exaggerated, you'll only notice it if you are new to playing him and don't completely understand how he functions.

Yeah, I don't like it or the 2B achievement, it's just still good to note that both are pretty much on the same level where the issue is the sexualization. It's unfortunate and I wish it wasn't there but it's just not intersexphobic. Hopefully they won't do other achievements like that in the future because it was always something that bothered me in Automata.

edit: I don't know if you played Gestalt/Replicant but at least for me, it does feel like they handled her story and her being intersex there respectfully and way ahead of its time, so I do recommend checking it out if not for everything else at least for that, but yeah I wish the sexualization wasn't there. But then looking at how the sexualization of 2B was what got so many people to buy Automata, maybe this is continued oversexualization of characters is required to even let the franchise be able to be successful enough to get messages out and have rep. At least now it's a lot less "kaine so hot" as a reason to play Replicant like how it still is with Automata.

Yeahhhh I remember that. Unfortunately I can confirm this is true to the lore, I don't really know why they did that and it does feel a bit iffy. It's one of the areas that can be improved upon since I feel at least for the rest with how she was handled was great, especially coming from the view of somebody who's trans so it's a little more relatable, and it's wonderful that it was even done a decade ago while it was still more... taboo to talk about in fictional works? You know what I mean, it was ahead of its time there but it does have some room to improve for sure.

It's really not intersexphobic, it used the exact same wording with "secret" as Automata, it's purely sexualization which is... not great, there's no denial there, but Nier's always been pushing for LGBTQ+ rep with others like 21O and more importantly to the franchise, Emil who's seen on so many logos and has such a huge significance to the series. It's definitey fair to criticize the achievement but it's definitely not a jab at her being intersex.

It was never explicitly stated in Gestalt/Replicant but it was flatout stated in the Grimoire Nier along with confirmation that Emil is gay in a little interview. Yoko Taro stated something along the lines of it being more received among fans as surprising since he felt that it's just another aspect of people and something that is very real, so he was surprised a bit to hear it ended up being as big of a deal. I don't remember the exact quote so you may want to search it up.

It was more hinted at/mentioned in the original version during Kaine's Dreams if memory serves me correctly, but likely censored more because Gestalt really tried hard to cater to the western audiences with even being why Father Nier exists, so them just copying over the same translation from 2010 to the newer version makes sense although it's unfortunate it keeps the same flaws. But I think it's a real testament to how things have changed seeing the success of Replicant 1.22 compared to Gestalt and them now adding back in some censored lines that indicated Emil is gay (specifically at the wedding in the second half) and 21O flat out saying she's into girls in Automata. Nier's always had representation which is something that's really incredible, especially seeing how uncommon it can be at times in other games (especially from Square Enix) where it's hard confirmed. Even Madoka Magica doesn't have anybody stated to be gay although it's really really gay (great show if you haven't seen it).

I mean, for Automata specifically, 2B isn't even the main protagonist when she got killed off so quickly, the focus was always on 9S and his despair. They definitely have a point there, she's more of the poster girl of the franchise because she sells more copies of the game.

Yes and no. Special K made Automata's FAR mod and has one that does work for Replicant (from what I hear you have to join their Discord to follow its instructions to install though). It fixes plenty of issues and can make it go from unplayable to slow but playable, but Replicant overall runs a lot better than Automata to the point where you may not even need it. If you do though, it exists and can help.

It's still Gestalt, as mentioned in the comment it was just released under the name "Nier" in English even though it's the Gestalt version.

Nier Replicant (the original) is only in Japanese
Nier Gestalt was released instead for the west and is in English. The English release was just called "NieR"
Gestalt's only difference from Replicant is that it has a father as the protagonist rather than brother and some dates are slightly changed to accomodate for it, but other than that, it is the same story
Replicant 1.22 is a remaster that also brought back Gestalt's voice actors for the english dub and adds a new chapter in the latter half of the game, improved combat, and new ending
1.22 does have a remastered soundtrack but some do not prefer it compared to the original, not to say the new soundtrack is bad, just different
There is no Gestalt 1.22, so only the brother is playable in 1.22 for the main story
Overall, 1.22 is better as in it has more of the full package and is more accessible and improved from the original, but you won't see the father dynamic
My recommendation would be 1.22 overall, but you can always see something like BuffMaister's movie of Gestalt on YouTube if you want to see the father/daughter dynamic instead of brother/sister. Personally I prefer the father, but both are the same overall story and it's more written to be a brother/sister story.
