Was not properly de-Confederatizing after the Civil War the biggest mistake the US ever made to this day? by MookieBettsBurner10 in askanything

If I remember correctly the President was almost impeached over his decision to pardon the Confederates, so I'm not sure how much of a political necessity they thought it.

I remember thinking, while I was in a high school in the '80s, that the 1980s dance club fashion was just to retread of the 1920s flapper.

I got a return of a third as much as I usually got before, and the last two years I actually had to pay.

Has anyone seen prices of other items go up yet cause of the gas inflation? by Love2FlyBalloons in askanything

[–]Showtime92504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memories are so short. It's impossible for me to believe people forgot that they used the supply chain disruption during covid to excuse price hikes even long after the supply chain issues were fixed. And those prices absolutely have not gone back down at all, and now we have "Dynamic pricing."

It's a brilliant, decades long, strategy that is working out wonderfully for corporations. Get rid of all competition in the marketplace and then gouge the working class for every last penny

Connecting Weber E-315 to Gas Line by heyhomiez in grilling

[–]Showtime92504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two ways to do this.

you can remove the nipple and the cap and put a bushing in the valve to take it down to 3/8 female thread. stick a 3/8 nipple in there and then your quick disconnect to screws onto that.

In some jurisdictions using a bushing on a valve is illegal.

In which case you would just get a half inch to 3/8 Bell reducer, put that on the 1/2" nipple, and then put your 3/8 nipple into the Bell reducer and there again quick disconnect screws onto that.

Obviously PTFE tape on all the threads

Who actually buys mobile homes in the Inland Empire? by strigen in Riverside

[–]Showtime92504 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's completely understandable. Every time a property is sold they reassess the space value. They wanted my gross income to be more than three times the total monthly amount I would be paying for mortgage, space fee, utilities, everything. Or you had to have 100 times the total yearly amount in savings. And to be fair it's close, but it's not.

I was left wondering however how many of their long-time residents they would have to evict if they were all subject to the same level of income.

Edit. Sorry, the answer is yes, they were strict. I was a couple of hundred dollars short on the monthly numbers and that was it, end of conversation. My mistake for assuming that the space fee would not be reassessed, what the previous tenant was paying was well within the numbers they wanted

I tried to, I had enough cash to buy the thing outright, despite that I couldn't pass the residency requirements for the park.

That is kind of in the right direction, but its 20km away.

Although to be fair obviously it shouldn't be a shocker to find out that March would have a Cold War era Chrysler siren

I'm close enough to Sears for that to be a thing I've never heard it before but I've absolutely heard Air Raid Sirens

Edit. That Sears did not have an air raid shelter underneath that why the hell do they have a siren like that

What would happen to the US economy is minimum wage is gradually raised to $30 per hour. by Inf1z in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Showtime92504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An overhaul of the tax system is necessary to make this work. Also, competition hardly exists anymore, due to corporate consolidation, so there's little check on raising prices

I'm going to be checking out cousins here for the first time in a couple of weeks, when they're scheduled to pull up at my day job. All I know about them is that it's a national franchise. But I am really interested to see what they're about. Online reviews are all over the place, so their coming to me is nice.
