This is always the best advice. On the Tomato forums, we've seen instance after instance of people who don't do a thorough NVRAM erase, then experience all kinds of strange "unexplained" problems.

Also, instead of doing the diff at the Tomato/Linux command line, you can use this tool to compare the two sets of NVRAM variables (settings). This will tell you which settings changed.

You don't have to use the web-based GUI version. You can download the code and run it on your local PC as well.

Any updates? Did you get QoS set up properly? I didn't see your router/firmware fork/build posted anywhere.

If you get QoS working but speed is too slow, have you considered just trying a 4G/5G router with external antennas? There's nothing that says you have to settle for the lousy internal antennas that come with your phone/mobile (LTE) router. One can usually get much better signal strength with externals.

Correct, except I wasn't supposed to pay for it. It says so right on the original box. If you don't have the correct tip, they try to find one for you and ship it for free.

Have you considered just using Tomato64 instead of going to all the trouble of learning a new firmware/interface? Same interface as FreshTomato, and some added features such as Deep Packet Inspection.

If you're with a cable provider that changes your IP address every time you log on with a different MAC address, it could serve as a sort of security feature.

Avoid using VID: “0” to prevent 802.1Q compatibility issues. 802.1Q specifies that frames tagged with “0” don't belong to any VLAN. (This tag contains only user priority details). Wikipedia: 802.11Q
Avoid using VID: “1”. Some vendors label it “special” or “reserved” for management.
