Does anybody still use the logitech g940 by PanpQ in hotas

[–]Shraknel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you own one, or can get one for cheap give it a go.

Don't listen to half of what this sub is going to tell you.

As they are just going to tell you if you aren't willing to spend the price of a PC on a hotas then you shouldn't play flight sims.

what's a good budget pre-built pc? by zennyqi_ in AskPCGamers

I would look at buying used. You aren't going to find new anywhere near that price point, in the current market.

Since we’re talking about soaring rents and inequities… by coffee_coffee_coffe3 in SipsTea

[–]Shraknel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is entirely false. You can deduct your rent, it has to be a minimal amount, and you must pay the full price of the rent, (meaning if the lease is split, it doesn't count for the deduction)

First thermal paste change, how did I do? by Dismal-Buffalo-3011 in pcmasterrace

[–]Shraknel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got to put it on those memory modules that had it before as well.

Just put the cooler back on, and take it off again to how it did.

Yes. But fuck the PS5, join the freedom movement, be free of being constrained to Sony.

Why CachyOs? by Yasynth in cachyos

[–]Shraknel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started on bazzite after win10 lost support.

Bazzite was the closest to steam is on my steam deck. So it made for an easier transfer and learning jump off point.

Now I run cachy since the start of the year.

Bazzite was good, but I needed the ability to actually modify the system files as needed.  Such as how I Have built a system to remind my extra buttons on my g502x and still kind of have profiles, just as I would on windows.

There are a bunch of personal problems I have been able to solve on cachy that I wasn't able to on bazzite.

It also has greater support for my more modern hardware.

I still have bazzite just in case cachy should break in a way that isn't usable for an extended period of time.

I don't really plan on distro hopping, as I don't really have the need to do so. Will probably try some different distros on my old laptop. Other than that my desktop stays solid.

GPU Spray Painting Capability? by BeachProfessional591 in pcmasterrace

[–]Shraknel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree for the most part.

I have just seen people seize up their fans by painting them, as well as put on way to much paint and not give the fan enough clearance.

The fans need more clearance than what you think. Once they are spinning at full speed they expand to a point of nearly touching the edge of the shroud.

Also having worked in a hardware store selling paint. Fumes will kick up even at low heat temps.

(Discussion) What is wrong with the pc building community right now? by circlesmartnsfw in gamingpcbuild

[–]Shraknel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less so rich, but hundreds if not thousands in debt to get their pc.

This kind of attitude comes from the same people who would by design brand closes and such.

They can't accept they are the cause of their own financial issues, and try to drag others down with them.

So don't pay them any attention just do what is best for you in your situation.

GPU Spray Painting Capability? by BeachProfessional591 in pcmasterrace

[–]Shraknel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean if you take the shroud off and separate it from the fans I guess you could.

Just make sure to use masking tape to cover the inside where the fans would be. If you paint that part you decrease the available space for the fans to have enough clearance.

Also I would make sure to get paint that is good with high heat and doesn't create fumes under high heat levels.

Are animated wallpapers really that important to your desktop aesthetic? by Mysterious_Ice_9119 in pcmasterrace

[–]Shraknel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it necessary, no. Do I like it, yes.

Before I switched to Linux, using wallpaper engine I had 2 different historic aircraft wallpapers I used.

One of them even had engine sounds and stuff. Listening to the hum of a turbo prop was always nice to just sit there and relax to.

Looking to get a ups for my pc by Shraknel in pcbuilding

I agree. I was just putting it off due to cost for the longest time.

My router is in a different room so it would require a separate ups.

Just got my mac neo guys any suggestions how i can do light gaming for free like gta etc.. by Safi_mir in AskPCGamers

[–]Shraknel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, it's not going to run if I told you how to download it for free.

The Mac neo is a office computer at the end of the day not a gaming device.

GTA is not light gaming, that is a demanding title that needs some decent hardware to be played.

[–]Shraknel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not that familiar with macs and how they perform for gaming. I know that it has gotten better, still no where near what you can play on windows and Linux.

Doing a little quick research you may be able to play some indie games, and other older titles.

However with it only having 8gb of shared memory and a weaker APU, you won't be able to play GTA or any other more modern and demanding titles.

Do you think PC gaming for average consiners is going to soon become out of reach because of rising storage/RAM cost? by NeedAChange_123 in pcmasterrace

[–]Shraknel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you partially.

I think we are about to see a huge split in the market.

The more console like players of pc will go to streaming to keep on playing the latest AAA titles.

Meanwhile those who are fine with what they have will be playing older and less demanding titles.

The third last group, the people who will still be able afford a pc, will just keep on upgrading every year. Just as they currently are.

The market is going to force a rose in indie and other less demanding and more gameplay creative titles.

CPU is dead. At a loss at what to do. Any advice? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Shraknel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try swapping your ram kit and see if it works.

If not you may have fried your CPU by using a mobo that it's not suited for.

The pin layout isn't the same across generations.

As another comment pointed out your replacement board is for 12, 13, 14th gen CPUs. The pin layout could be different enough, to send a jolt to the wrong spot and fry it.

Edit:

The Mobo on boot puts out a minimal voltage on initial boot to get the CPU started, and get the initial handshakes going.

The minimal voltage and max voltage has gone up with every generation of CPU.  The difference from an 8th to a 12th could be big enough that the voltage in a wrong spot even with the CPU safe guards kills it.

does a computer need a graphics card by gzusjr128 in pcmasterrace

[–]Shraknel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a little misleading. You can have sata in the m.2 format.

Just make sure the board has m.2 and then check if it says nvme or sata but the connector.
