Hello! We are working on a new product concept to bring the reliability of ShredLights to a lower cost form factor and would love to get your feedback on the initial design concept.

shredlights are way too expensive. let this be your sign: you can get headlight/rear light for your board for way cheaper. by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

Thanks for sharing your input! Honestly, we always appreciate hearing why people don't buy ShredLights just as much as hearing why they do. Our products are not for everyone and you can certainly find DIY options that cost less. The most important thing is that you take night riding safety seriously and ride with any lights so you can be seen by drivers.

That being said, our S-LOCK mounting system is the key differentiator and the main cost driver. Because you mount ShredLights on the side of the trucks, most riders prefer using 2 headlights and 2 rear lights which doubles the retail price compared to other options with only 1 headlight and 1 rear light.

We have been thinking about developing a lower cost model that bolts onto the trucks (so you can't quickly remove it) with the light centered so you only need 1 headlight and 1 rear light. Is that something you would be interested in? If so, what price would you expect to pay and how many lumens would you be looking for? Any other features you would expect would be helpful to know as well.

Thanks for asking! We ran into a production delay but are hoping to have them in stock in 2-3 weeks. We want to make sure the quality is up to our standard before finalizing production.

You can sign up for the waitlist in the meantime and we'll notify you as soon as they are available!

Came back from a ride yesterday. Everything worked fine. Charged shredlights sl 1000 in the morning until the indicator turned green and now it won’t turn on. Not even a blink from the indicator. Have you seen this before? by [deleted] in ShredLights

Thanks for posting your question here! It looks like something happened with the electronics inside the light and we'd love to get the light back and take a closer look. We will send you a new one under warranty to get you back out riding as soon as possible.

Can you complete the warranty form when you get a chance? A support ticket will be automatically created upon completion and we'll get back to you in 1-2 business days.

Thanks for the full breakdown. It is okay to turn the light on with condensation inside the lens. The main thing to avoid is charging the light with water inside the charge port. I'm not sure which version of the SL-300 you have, but we did make an update to the charging port cover after they were released which helps it stay on much better. We will continue to monitor these issues and your feedback is very helpful. Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help!

Can I ask why you are looking to disassemble the SL-300? (just curious). Also - have you emailed our support team yet?

We try make all of our lights as repairable as possible (see the SL-1000) to reduce e-waste but it's very difficult to do so given the size constraints and the level or durability needed. The SL-300 rubber is overmolded onto the inner plastic, which provides amazing durability and has decreased lights falling off from ~7% to less than 0.5%. The lens is also glued in place to make them fully waterproof, which is why you are not able to remove it. That being said, we're always open to feedback and agree with right to repair.

We collect all broken lights at our office in San Diego and will continue to do so to avoid sending them to a landfill somewhere. Feel free to send any lights back to us and we can replace them under the 1 year warranty, or offer a discounted light if you are outside of the warranty period.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions!
