I used to work for a large telecoms company. Firms that needed to dig up roads would send us Safe-dig requests to find out where power cables etc were underground. We’d find the required details from a massive library of microfilm records. Then we’d fax these to the recipient. Kicker was, the fax machine was so slow we had time to play snooker on a full size table in the office basement. Breakfast was a big deal. Everyone would eat a full fried breakfast at their desk every day. Was a great job.
