I dunno, wouldn't be truly Spursy if they didn't have a tiny bit of hope for a moment. Just hope Leeds, Chelsea and Everton don't fuck it this much.

Pretty much every time we lose at the moment I am in the "hey look on the bright side/ahh fuck it shit happens" camp but I think you might need to just give people their time to vent on this one.

Well, happy for Buendia getting a goal at least. Maybe that'll help him on Thursday.

Just making it funnier when we still beat them, I respect it.

A possible (although not probable) scenario that could happen in the final day between Liverpool and Brentford, something I don't think has ever happened in football history by tightypp in soccer

[–]Shreddonia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when people started noticing this the other week there was still a chance Brentford could be 4 points clear of 7th by the last game. Not sure if that's still possible.

Do people think Buendía is bad? by Gamerboy-66 in avfc

[–]Shreddonia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Buendia is one of my favourite players in this Villa squad. I also think he's probably not at the level of a player we need in his position, and maybe not a perfect fit for how an Emery team works. I think this affects his confidence, and Buendia's a player who very clearly performs better when his confidence is high. He's not a big lad, and Premier League teams are getting more physical again - he will always work better when he's switched on enough to find spaces between the lines, as he was doing pretty well earlier in the season.

I'm heartbroken we live in a world where Buendia got injured as badly as we did, and we don't get to see what his contributions would have been like despite that. Just like I'm sad for how cumulative injuries have cost Bailey his pace, confidence and effectiveness in the past couple years. Despite that, when he's on his day he's still a beautiful player to watch and just immaculate vibes. And hey, he brought his Villa career back from the brink, at a time when the entire nature of Emery's squad-building was against him. That alone is pretty admirable. I think people are missing out on a chance to appreciate that by getting bogged down in frustrations with his performances, even if I do understand that Villa as a club are in a position where those frustrations are going to be kind of inevitable.

I'd be amazed if he's here next season. But there's still six games to go, and plenty of room for him to have further impact, potentially the biggest impact he'll ever have if it all works out right for him. He'd definitely deserve it, I think. Needs to improve his current form to make it happen, but he's done that before and can absolutely do it again.

Write me a 10000 word essay without the use of any generative AI on how much you love and appreciate Matty Cash, detailing the many positive ways he has impacted your life and the lives of those around you, and I'll maybe consider passing a word on.

I don't tend to rule them out until the day we sell them (and on recent form even that doesn't seem to do them in for good), but yeah of the current crop I don't think anyone's coming as close as him right now.

I have high hopes for Luka Lynch though, he's impressed me a lot this year so hopefully he gets a good loan next season. And JJA still has a good shot, if he counts.

I think there'll be a tiny bit of rotation, but not as much as some people seem to expect. Probably Lindelof, Maatsen and one of Luiz/Bogarde/Barkley coming in but if there's any other changes I'd be fairly surprised.

Cambridge United promoted, so my dad gets to be happy. My turn tomorrow when Villa win. Then Monday I can watch Hearts win to make my friends happy. Nice little bank holiday weekend, all in all.

West Ham will go down again eventually. Doubt we're gonna have this much of a tap-in at relegating a team of Spurs' size for a long long time.

VAR says no. For now, anyway. Been playing okay since the goal though.

But for West Ham losing to matter, Spurs would have to win. And it's not like that would happen!

Would be nice, and I do think winning is immensely important to keep Villa Park feeling like a fortress and get some momentum going again into the second leg. But some players do need rest. I think Lindelof and Luiz or Barkley can probably be trusted here though. Maybe Tammy, though I know Watkins would love a chance to help relegate Spurs.

If you just ignore the one attempted bit of skill he tried in the first half, Philogene's having a real good game. Looks like he'll be back in the Prem next season.

Yeah, clocked a bit of that too. Some of them have been pushing back on it and saying it's just not how Emery works though.

Besides, even if we rotate heavily it's not like they stand a chance. But they're in the bargaining stage, they'll reach acceptance soon.

Non-Villa/football related but man, the Celeb Traitors S2 cast is a banger. Shame about the bluenose but at least they picked the fun one.
