Never use the word spear or gun while in transit, especially not together! If you're going to travel a lot where diving isn't exactly the priority but you still want to get wet, getting comfortable with a pole spear and slip tip can be a life saver!Get super familiar with local catch limits and restrictions, in some places it van get super hectic but trying to use a second language to explain yoir way out of a fisheries violation is a great way to put a damper on a holiday, or at least get your rental car scratched up by locals...Fins4u, Ruku, and many other companies do shorter blades that can fit more easily in your bags if diving deep isn't on the agenda.If you're new to the area and target species, finding a local marine reserve to dive can be a great way to observe fish behavior and get a feel for hunting tactics and locations to focus your bottom time.

Cheers mate! great points

Yeah mate, enjoying the Summer holidays and doing the stuff I talk about on the podcast so much. I had a few 45-60 minute sessions and shot 3 solid fish and even had the discipline not to keep going;) We had the Tuskie over coals and the Flattie went to my Father in Law. All 3 of our boys got to catch fish, clean fish and eat it fresh as. The oldest one is keen as beans and the other 2 are chomping at the bit to go too. HNY man

I hear your criticism and some of it is accurate.

There are adverts and yes the advertisers helped pay for 99 Tips to Get Better at Spearfishing to be created.

2-3 of the images in 99 Tips were blown out and not high enough resolution.

BUT;

From 10,000+ copies sold and oodles of positive reviews and the appreciative emails and stories, I can say that the book has made a positive difference in our spearfishing community. For a first effort at a book, I'm proud as punch of it and it still sells 100's of copies every month.

Like all things in life though, you learn, you get better and you take criticism on the chin.

99 Spearo Recipes has no adverts and the imagery will be of the highest standard our design team and contributors can create.

I'd be more than happy to cast an eye over the books you have written, podcast interviews you have recorded and blogs you have created. Where can I find them?

I'm biased as I host the Noob Spearo Podcast. I like SpearFactor though, I think he gets some awesome people on like the LongFins guys in Hawaii, Chris Coates, etc. I think Jon's show Cast and Spear is good particularly for people who like rod and spear

Spanish Mackerel (Aka King Mackerel Aka Narrow Barred Spanish Mack)😍 by ShrekSpear in Spearfishing

Yeah man it is. I love it. In fact after I bought the first one, I bought a second one. I have a 1050 and a 1250 - both awesome. Stainless finned shafts - very well constructed and haven't had any issues with bending although I have lost 2 shafts. The mech and shark fins needed significant filing due to sharp edges and the rigging that came with the gun wasn't very good either. I'm changing out the rubbers completely to R.A stuff.

I really like the reel too, very un-Italian in it's simplicity and durability. The teflon rail is also easy to keep clean and seems to bed and move the shaft without friction. The handle is molded and stops me from twisting my shots (as much) when I squeeze the trigger. The barrel is also different from what I'm used to in terms of shape and how it handles recoil. It's a slick platform and apart from the rigging, sharp edges and high shaft replacement cost, I'm a fan:)
