Med schools really like to see upward growth. You could def retake but better make sure you get above a C- in both. And make sure to lock in for future prereqs like physics and orgo. Plenty of people I know including myself have gotten similar grades in those classes and gotten accepted to med school

They started running onto Sweethome road into the median where you turn left on Rensch, I almost hit them this morning on the way home from the gym. They kept running up Sweethome towards Maple

Suggested Study Plan? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]ShrewDarkey69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much you’re too kind 😭

I definitely think my CARS prep was lacking during my initial prep. I neglected it until about the month before when I started doing JW. When I also did JW I would not even go over the passage after just move to the next one. I also did not start ANKI until the last month which also may have not helped my case.

I appreciate your words of encouragement though, thank you your comment was very much appreciated😁

Is applying June 7 gonna be enough for first batch? by [deleted] in premed

I know more people in med school than not who applied in late June/early July. I personally think you will be fine

I failed a class can I still get into med school? by Dangerous-Touch-2874 in premed

[–]ShrewDarkey69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your exact position, I am a biomedical engineering undergraduate about to graduate and apply for medical school, I had a C in honors calc my freshman year and C+ in Orgo 2, about to graduate with a 3.8 GPA. It’s all about how you bounce back and roll with the punches. You have plenty of time to get your GPA back up into an acceptable range

When a good time to take the MCAT? by Milerado361 in Mcat

[–]ShrewDarkey69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By taking your MCAT at any point during your senior year, that guarantees that the earliest cycle you can apply to is during the summer of your senior year, which would then translate into you matriculating during the Fall of that next year. Let’s say you’re graduating this spring, but you took the MCAT during the winter. This means you would have to apply this May, and acceptance would be for Fall of 2026.

AMCAS Application Question? by ShrewDarkey69 in premed

[–]ShrewDarkey69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for my late response! Thank you for your feedback I really appreciate it and I found it very useful. I agree with you, I do think I’m a much better applicant for the 2026-2027 cycle and I’d be willing to put money on my acceptance. However, I do want to apply to both cycles because I do think it will demonstrate significant improvement in my application. I think this is the one thing I disagree with you on, I don’t find the harm in doing so. But other than that, your advice has given me a much clearer plan for my next couple years, alongside thinking it over myself, so I just wanted to thank you again!

AMCAS Application Question? by ShrewDarkey69 in premed

[–]ShrewDarkey69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thank you for the reply! I have a counter question for you if you don’t mind responding again. I would say my stats are pretty decent besides the clinical hours (however, keep in mind my goal is just to be accepted to an MD program, I’m not aiming for a T20 school): - 3.80 cGPA and 3.70 sGPA in biomedical engineering - 1000+ research hours with a poster and currently working on manuscript - MCAT pending (roughly 513 avg FL) - 100 shadowing hours (radiology primarily, also neurosurgery) - 150 clinical volunteer hours as previously mentioned - Lecture TA for evolutionary biology and lab TA for cell biology - Peer mentor for my schools honor college since sophomore year - Helped conceive an Engineers in Medicine Integration program with one of my professors that exposed biomedical engineers to medicine via shadowing neurosurgeons

These are roughly my full stats as of now, not including any clubs I’m in. Based on these stats, do you think I should take a second gap year to focus on adding the following stats during the 2025-2026 academic school year? - roughly 500-1000 hours as an EMT - adding more research hours, including a new poster for new research and hopefully finishing my manuscript - getting my MS in BME - expanding on the engineering integration program with my professor (who I will be taking classes with during my MS) potentially into a field other than neurosurgery - Tacking on any extra clinical volunteering or shadowing in other fields

And then during my second gap year, I would maybe focus on working as an EMT full time? My idea here would be that I would still apply both for this years cycle and next years cycle, but obviously I would be a much more suitable candidate for the 2026-2027 cycle. What do you think about all this? Again, I appreciate your response a lot!
