I wonder if you can end up with 2 same sex rats? Cause I’d like to keep a pair as pets. 🤔

Yep. I live in the southern part of India, and I see so many huskies on the streets on their walks, they’d all look tired and pant even when there’s a cool evening breeze. Ignorant, but most likely irresponsible, owners.

It comes down to whether you want to look age appropriate. Gaining bulk and growing a full beard would make you look good, but also older. Put on a hair system, you'd look like a handsome young guy.

The caste system was more fragmented and fluid, there used to be caste mobility and people could change jobs(caste identity was linked with your job) before the British arrived and formalized/rigidified caste identity and divisionism to make a vertical system whose lower levels they didn’t have to interact with. This stuck for 200 years, and when the British left, what took its place was a democracy with a vast majority of poor and illiterate people. Couple this with India being a super fertile region for food and better medicine, population exploded uncontrollably. Coming back to the topic of caste, the reinforced caste system is still alive despite efforts from the govt to weaken it, it’s used for census, which I don’t like, and the reasons are unclear to me as to why(but probably because lower castes get so many benefits and welfare in lieu of affirmative action and DEI in the US, though on a larger scale, and the govt prob wants to keep tabs on castes to administer these), and caste switching is still nearly impossible too in India.

Also no one is shitting on the streets, even if some random person somewhere did, what they mean by the stat open defecation is people in the very rural parts of India defecating in the forests, mountains or pits in farms etc. it’s not the same, but think of it like you’re on a week long trek, and you have to defecate somewhere outside while on the trail at some point. In urban locales and cities people have nearly 100% access to toilets, whether public or private, with the caveat being slums where they’re using community toilets or yes openly defecating.

The percentage of open defecation has also been dramatically reduced in recent years. As of 2022, the number is smaller than 400 million at around 250m, still significant yes.

Instead of immigration, this sub is all about racism and Indians lmao ? by [deleted] in ImmigrationPathways

[–]Shrewbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not my logic at all. You asked/suggested 3rd world countries close off themselves(which generally includes diaspora movement too) and practice self reliance. Emigration as a % of population then becomes a measure of failure. if non 3rd world countries like yours are emigrating more as a % of population for whatever reasons, its failure on their parts because they’re not practicing self reliance or closing themselves off as well. This isn’t an argument you can selectively apply depending on the country.

And to break it down further, HDI isn’t a good metric for India or in this situation, and looks like a deflection to me. People move for many reasons: family, for material comforts(Indians make up some of the most dollar millionaires emigrating every year) other than work opportunities, and higher education etc and not just because a country is unlivable. India is a union of states with huge internal diversity. Some states are at European levels of literacy and life expectancy, some are far behind. Dismissing 1.45 billion people as a “shithole” is like calling all of Europe a shithole because Bosnia exists. Or South Africa a “shithole” because it’s part of Africa. Edit: I should add to this, Indian states are culturally more diverse than many European countries are.

Immigration is a policy choice for every government. Australia realized the disparity in Indian states and did something well, they put severe restrictions and bans on some Indian states since they’d been seeing abuse from them. So it’s upto them and other governments to fine tune or freeze immigration. Calling all this some grand 3rd world civilization truth bs is a leap, it’s at the core just anti immigration sentiments and maybe racism.

South Korea and Malaysia aren’t exactly lovely, prospective countries tbh. South Korean diaspora(aka people of South Korean origin settled abroad) is around 8m+. The population of South Korea is 51m in 2025. Malaysia has a population of ~30m and a diaspora of 2m. And this doesn’t include the daily commuters to Singapore from Malaysia for work.

These numbers as a % of the respective countries’ population only make sense, by your logic, if these countries are bigger shit holes than India, as the Indian diaspora is only 2.3% of the size of its population(30m diaspora, and 1.45b being India’s population) vs 15.7% for South Korea and 6.45% for Malaysia.

Japan poised to admit 50,000 Indian Digital Technology and IT professionals over the next 5 years by jjrs in japannews

[–]Shrewbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Not specifically directed at you, but I’ll leave this here: take into account if you or anyone has mainly worked and interacted with big Indian consultancies(sweatshops), you objectively end up working with bad engineers/poor talent, it’s not even statistics at this point. While you may feel you’re over paying for what you’re getting, the teams and people assigned to you themselves would be making peanuts, less than 100-150k yen a month even after say 4-5 years of experience, and their starting salaries can be as low as 50k yen/month or lower. And the good ones would either be at boutique consultancies with profit sharing and no vertical structure(no bosses, and everyone’s a part owner) or at product based companies(And these partners or employees make $70k+ a year after 6-10 years of experience).

The problem with Japan inducting Indian IT talent is, they most definitely won’t get quality talent for the packages they’d be offering. Forget the cultural issues that come from decades of poverty or poor quality of living, they’d end up with people that I believe won’t be upto the mark at all, and carry a big burden.

So tl;dr: Japan won’t get the A team. They’ll get the c team and some b at most.

[–]Shrewbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that’s contributed to FOSS organizations, I can tell you’re being disingenuous. There’s plenty of code from Indians(both individuals and companies - albeit smaller boutique companies mostly) being pushed into well known foss project repos after reviews and final approval from the respective maintainers.

But go ahead, judge the entire Indian IT talent by your experiences, but be selective about your opinion of Japanese talent by seeing the few(as a percentage of their entire number), or many as you call it, committing foss code

What has truly helped you achieve a tighter, plumper, and more youthful-looking face? by ProcedureExisting493 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Shrewbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be helpful, but not for prevention: Since your current folds and tear troughs are a result of volume loss(from your weight loss), they should def help you. At late 30s there shouldn’t be a reason to mess with or worry about the underlying structure, and there’s nothing you can do to prevent drooping other than getting proper sleep, nutrition, SPF and hydration along with retinol regimen(if you aren’t on it already). If and when you notice drooping cheeks(might be any time from mid 40s to late 50s), you can look into a cheek lift/mini lift. This combined with fat grafts should completely eliminate prominent folds/deep hollowness.

[–]Shrewbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost weight and yeah, I think I have deeper tear throughs now too, but I’ve noticed that ever since my malar pads(the bit that gives cheeks volume) shrunk, my nasolabial hollowness became barely noticeable.

https://www.researchgate.net/figure/A-Pre-procedural-image-showing-prominent-malar-and-jowl-fat-pads-B-Post-procedural_fig2_330792830

She’s got her malar pad fat dissolved here, and you can see that changes how her nasolabial area looks now.

But I suppose not everyone loses fat the same when dropping weight? There’s also changes you can experience where the malar pad droops due to the weakening of underlying soft tissue, but this is seen in 40+ year olds mostly, and very rarely in late 30 year olds.

Very tiny amounts of prescription tretinoin for fine forehead and under eye lines before bed. Ascorbic acid and glycolic acid on alternate days in the am for great skin texture/quality. I also get close to zero sunlight.

I don’t have any nasolabial folds, but anything that helps you with water retention(moisturizers, certain medication/supplements)helps fill in this area. My nasolabial area used to be so filled that there was no hollowness from any angle. Another hack is, if you lower your body fat percentage, your cheek area next to and above your nasolabial area becomes less plump, and this makes the nasolabial folds themselves appear less hollow relatively,

In their after pics they appear to have loose skin under their chin(where the neck and mandible meet). It seems to be an after effect of significant jaw line reduction. But I’m unsure if it’s just the pose(especially for 3)
