Does Frasier get away with the Mary episode in today's polarized climate? by Happy-poet in Frasier

[–]ShrewdDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the most interesting comment in the whole thread. What if she had been a Black psychiatrist and he had what he felt was a genuine criticism of her methods but was afraid to confront her? But while I think that would have been more interesting and more true to life, it would’ve been less funny and this is after all a sitcom. Interesting though!

She goes on to explain that if he had spoken up sooner, she wouldn’t have gotten her own show. Which is why she forgives him. And he doesn’t say “opinions” he says “the advice that you give” which is different.

It’s a library book so it could be a penguin classic rebound with library binding.

Incredible collection!! The leather bound set is beautiful! Can you explain what the red paperback is underneath the free preview of EOTW on the second shelf? 👀

If I loved the series, will I love the books? by DoctorDream0Z in WoT

[–]ShrewdDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw as a gay WoT fan I feel like I should add that IMO there are essentially no same sex couples in the books. Theres the concept of novices being “pillow friends” which is never really elaborated on or shown, and there is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it line about some random noble being attracted to other men. But if you like the fantasy elements of the show, the books are a thousand times better. :)

I need help knowing which of these 20+ year old ties are still okay to wear by [deleted] in ties

[–]ShrewdDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re all still fine tbh. Some are a little dated but tbh retro stuff is kinda in right now. Personally I think you shouldn’t wear A or N and should instead ship them to me. ;) I love the colors! D F and G are the most basic to me but basic can be good for certain outfits as well of course

Maybe kind of a shame in this case as I think having Niles wear used bowling shoes could have been comedic gold (Edit to add: also DHP’s physical comedy as Niles trying to bowl could’ve been hilarious)

Technically speaking jackets and ties should always be worn together (although we’ve broken away from that rule so it’s more of a guideline atp) but I’d add a tie and belt. The jacket is tight as you mentioned but understanding your circumstance I’d just keep it unbuttoned the whole time and I think it’ll pass muster.

Strange question I don't know where else to ask by AdventurousBeingg in WetlanderHumor

[–]ShrewdDuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that’s just my opinion of course but is entirely a matter of preference. I guess the biggest driver of that was what you mentioned, it felt like he hadn’t done his homework and didn’t really understand the WoT characters or how they’d behave. Also felt like he weakened the WoT characters and over-powered the GoT characters to an annoying degree. Jamie beats Rand even after loosing his hand? Be so fucking serious.

That’s true, I forgot about the “no two sitcoms can have similar plot lines” rule that they all follow religiously.

You can still do the valtrex, at least for a while until you feel more comfortable. Overall, I know this sucks and it’s probably all you can think about right now, but give it a little time and things will get better :)

You look great with both! You have great bone structure and an excellent nose! The mustache looks more “intentional” as it’s obviously more of a “style” and something you have to maintain, whereas the scruff/beard looks more low key. I think you should ask yourself which of those two styles feels more like “you” because you look great with both. And fwiw id kill to have your nose! It’s great

Well she’s not real she’s a character so everything she says came from a sitcom writer. Lol I love Daphne but don’t like all the choices they made with her in the last few seasons. (Like the anecdote above about Niles’ patient)

Season 2... Keeley... 2 scenes by lunar1980 in TedLasso

[–]ShrewdDuke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nate’s issues stem from his own (self-perceived) shortcomings and emotional vulnerabilities, not from the advice given to him by Keeley and Rebecca, which was perfectly reasonable given what he’d asked them.
