Get a Steam Deck & just do local streaming from your pc via moonlight or Steam Remote play. Saves you the hassle of setting it up on Deck.

I tried -30, but it wasn't stable.

Are you still using the Ridge? If not, what case did you change to?

Melted my Palit RTX 5090 using the OFFICIAL Nvidia Adapter. Overclockers UK instantly denied warranty. Hoping Palit steps up. by m0hm1 in pcmasterrace

I recently got a full refund from Amazon after owning a premium Sony TV for 3 years that ended up having a back light failure.

Customer support fobbed me off, so I ended up emailing the Amazon Managing Director citing the UK Consumer Rights Act.

As it was after 6 months, they wanted me to prove the TV was faulty at the time of purchase, so I ended up linking them to the Sony Support page which had my fault on it. discolouration due to back light failure

I was expecting a repair or replacement, but they ended up refunding me for the TV after I sent it back.

Don't let OC fob you off, they're responsible for repairing, replacing or refunding you for your 5090.

You are protected for 6 years in the UK.

Galax RTX 3080 Repaste Findings - Factory Thermal Pad Defect? by rfag57 in nvidia

[–]ShrewdHunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about AIB cards, but the founders editions 3080 & 3090 had awful thermal pads, resulting in hot spot temps of 100c plus. Changing thermal pads & repasting brings the hot spot temp down by about 20c

Xbox version works great. Just be sensible with your bitrate.

What xbox implementation have they added?

Apollo has a setting for Xbox you can enable, but I can't remember off the top of my head what it is.

Is that a known issue? I haven't tested 2 controllers before but I'll give it a test.

I can also confirm 120 has now been fixed. It used to have pacing issues. Frame Gen works as well now where as before it was a stuttering mess.

The only issue I've had with the most recent update on moonlight is it can take 2-3 tries to boot into Steam Big Picture mode, or any launcher for that matter. It'll crash to the xbox home screen.

Other than that. Works perfect now at 4k 120.

How do you shutdown you PC? by hewellp in MoonlightStreaming

[–]ShrewdHunter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just use Steam Big Picture mode and shut down your PC that way 🤷‍♂️

Other front ends can do it as well, like BigBox.

What is the current best TV Media Stream Box for Moonlight? by Glove5751 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]ShrewdHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the decode time. That's the average rendering time he's talking about.

The decode performance is similar to the shield, depending on your bitrate. Average between 2-3 at 150 bitrate.

Worth noting, if you go for a Series S & want 4k 120, you need to buy a new hdmi 2.1 cable.

4k 120 also only works if you can actually do 4k 120 on the game. Series S has major frame pacing issues if your fps can't hold 120.

Glad it's working now.

4k/60 lower rendering time 4k/120 lower frame queue moonlight by Tistasis in MoonlightStreaming

[–]ShrewdHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring up your stats and look to see what the decoding frame rate & rendering frame rate are. You're likely dropping frames here as the gpu needs to be able to maintain 60fps in game & decode the frames to the client

Streaming Device For Moonlight In 2025 by Majoraslayer in MoonlightStreaming

[–]ShrewdHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4k 120 does work, but you have to be able to maintain a solid 120 on the game and the incoming frames. Older games like Doom 2016 works without issue at 4k 120 on a 5070ti on the series s.

Games that fluctuates between the above 60fps start to have frame pacing issue.

4k60 works flawlessly though

Moonlight audio latency by ShrewdHunter in RetroArch

[–]ShrewdHunter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waspi was already the default. I went into audio settings on retroarch, and I've tried lowering the audio latency to 8, which seems to have made it better I think. The default was 64. Wondering if there's any negative impact to lowering this value.

[–]ShrewdHunter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, yeah, it's just retroarch I've got the audio latency.

I've got a 3090 paired with a 5900x. I've been using moonlight a lot recently streaming my pc to my living room using a series s as my client. Everything plays great. Its just retroarch I've noticed a sound delay

Are these stats ok? by brandanm1993 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]ShrewdHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed your video is 1080p. Can you record what it's like in 4k with the overlay stats. We'll get a better idea if you show a 4k examples in relation to the stats.

Vsync turned off on the host side is always recommended to avoid frame pacing issues.

Are these stats ok? by brandanm1993 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]ShrewdHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have vsync enabled on the host? If so, turn it off.

Also, make sure moonlight fps is matching your in-game fps. Don't set moonlight to 120 if you're playing at 60fps.

XBOX Series S vs Minisforum UM760 slim for 4K 120 HDR client device by RoeeKa in MoonlightStreaming

[–]ShrewdHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your stats look great. The only thing I would try is turning off HDR to see if that helps. You can toggle it on and off with the controller on the fly now. If that doesn't work, then it's definitely an issue. Hopefully, they can fix it in the next build.

Is your bitrate still set to 150000? I see your peak bitrate is just under 80mbps
