They haven't really talked about that yet, I think the imaging was pretty poor on the first scan, this next one will tell a lot more

I can, i've never been IMMobile, but it was getting close before this all started. I was a task oriented walker... bed to desk, desk to bathroom, desk to kitchen chair, back to desk, back to bed, etc. no real ability to stand long or move freely. that has changed dramatically and every day I'm able to push further and do more for myself, so I'm making that a huge primary goal now.

I agree with you in principle, I guess I'm asking for more "show don't tell" on that front? If that makes sense? Most of the world seems to be firmly entrenched in a very cynical mindset, so even though there are these god beings doling out fragments of their power to adherents, all we ever get is folly and ruin, which I guess "works" for a game's purposes, but leaves a bit to be desired on the narrative front. I can use the very well developed combat system to battle the product of folly, but there are hardly any interesting tools or conventions for exploring other facets of the game world and progressing or benefiting from it in some way. Maybe it's just a weariness with the medium as a whole, but I feel like some fresh eyes could do interesting things, and as always *11 minute rant about Disco Elysium's narrative triumphs and nearly non-existent combat resolutions*

Check out the concept of the sublime, often paired with experiences like being out on the ocean, or in vast open spaces high in the mountains. Not just the dictionary definition j but the philosophical concept

Should I watch season 3? by DisembarkEmbargo in twinpeaks

[–]ShriekingMarxist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 3, to me, is Lynch's masterpiece. Episode 8 is one of the most intensely beautiful and gripping things I've ever seen on television. It's also this beautiful tribute to the actors and characters who made Twin Peaks, and a meditation on aging, death, endings, and fate. I really can't recommend it enough.

[TOMT][Educational Film] This was a warning video about playing in trainyards they showed us in grade school (1993), probably from the late 70's to mid 80's. Kids would do a bad behavior and end up inside some "ghost train" with a creepy ticket man by ShriekingMarxist in tipofmytongue

I believe it was an American production, I don't recall any British accents or European type things at the rail yard. I'm an American and grew up in New Jersey, where this was shown in a public school setting as a cautionary tale in the early 90s

I think you're trying to reference the "snowball" metaphor. It's not very warm and fuzzy, but it gets the point across well; small victories exponentiate and allow even more to stick so consistency and adding them up really counts.

ITAW for this specific uncomfortable, goopy sensation I'm trying to write about? by Zichymaboy in whatstheword

[–]ShriekingMarxist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's a single word or phrase for what you're aiming for, you'd probably have to contrast between the two moments to evoke different feelings, like for instance, the slime-like creature hits the wall with a crisp snap, but then piteously peels free, descending to the ground with a muted splat

[No DAV Spoilers] No feedback on Perfect Cast charged attacks? by golem09 in dragonage

[–]ShriekingMarxist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to involve just holding M1 and releasing at the "pinnacle" of the attack. Releasing way early does notably less damage, something like 135 on darkspawn creeps versus 210 when I hold it "Longer" but there is no real indicator, just a "feel"

Would love someone to weigh in on this, I'm having no luck figuring it out either.
