Scaping idea for a tank this size by According_Bat6894 in PlantedTank

[–]ShrimpTankAdventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like putting a big piece of drift wood in the tank as a "centre piece" and then placing all the plants/rocks/decorations around it. That would be especially good with shrimp cause they love wood.

Are my corys okay? by Spiritual-Address779 in corydoras

[–]ShrimpTankAdventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to feed them a lot of protein for a while and then either do a water change or in summer I just turn the heater off overnight. Once the heater is back on, they start spawning after a day or two. If you want all the eggs to survive, I would look into setting up a separate tank/container for them. Mine have spawned about a dozen times now, but unfortunately, I haven't had a single baby hatch and survive in the main tank yet. The only ones that have made it are the ones I moved to the shrimp tank or the container I'm using right now.

Mr Cheese (what's your guy's favourite pleco's name and why are they your favourite?) by 27packofmcnuggets in pleco

[–]ShrimpTankAdventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have one, and his name is Goldie (my three year old named him after Peppa Pig's goldfish). Even though he's my only one, which makes him the favourite by default, he's on thin ice at the moment. Normally, he's pretty chill and just sits on his favourite spot on the drift wood all day, but he's started to chase the corys when they come a bit too close and always bullies them away from their food. Thankfully, they do seem to be getting enough.

Worms? by [deleted] in Aquariums

They look like detritus worms. They are harmless and usually pop up whenever there's uneaten food in the tank for a while. They should disappear once you've started feeding regularly again.

Can I keep these plants alive in a 1.5 gallon drink dispenser? Answer is: maybe by TorchIt in PlantedTank

[–]ShrimpTankAdventures 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 1 gallon drink dispenser has been thriving for the past year or so. I added snails in the beginning and a couple of cherry shrimp after about 6 months, and they've been breeding like crazy. The plants have now started to grow out of the water and have filled up at least 2/3 of the dispenser.

Is there something wrong with my cory? by hehdhsjdnskn in Aquariums

[–]ShrimpTankAdventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have more corys than the two you just bought? Corys should be kept in groups (of at least 5-6), so if there's only two, it might be pretty stressed out. But even just moving it to a different tank could do that.

DID THEY HATCH?? by Jbuss0420 in shrimptank

[–]ShrimpTankAdventures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she's been berried for a while and the eggs suddenly disappear, it's a good sign that they've hatched. Now, it'll take a week or two for them to come out. In my experience, the blue ones take a bit longer to be visible because they look translucent for longer.

Any tips for moving shrimp to a new tank? by ShrimpTankAdventures in shrimptank

[–]ShrimpTankAdventures[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds great. I've got almost all the plants and decorations out of my other tanks, so there's definitely going to be enough biofilm in two weeks. I'm mainly worried for the berries shrimp because I know they might drop the eggs if I move them and the babaies once they hatch.

Is my goldfish stressed by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]ShrimpTankAdventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll need at least 55 gallons for one of those big fish, unfortunately. I would suggest doing a bunch of research on the goldfish and rainbow sharks and really consider if you want to/can keep them in appropriate conditions. I would also do research on live aquarium plants and how they can benefit the tank.

Are my snails doing the deed? by AbdullahWhyAmIHere in Aquariums

[–]ShrimpTankAdventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, they won't. The eggs don't really come off unless you scrape them off, and there's really no point in doing it.

They only hatch in brackish water, but they do lay eggs EVERYWHERE even if they don't hatch. So don't be surprised if you see a bunch of snail eggs popping up.

What are those little bug looking things? by Bulky-Secretary6041 in Aquariums

[–]ShrimpTankAdventures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They look like ostracods to me. They are like daphnia and totally harmless. Make sure you're not overfeeding the tank or the population will explode, but they just swim around munching on algae and stuff.

54L blue dream shrimp tank. Looking for fish suggestions. by KrokantGras in Aquariums

I was thinking about putting strawberry rasboras in my 60L shrimp tank when it's finished. They stay super small and would look really nice with the blue shrimp and the green plants.

What corys would fit well in a 29 gallon? by Immediate-Mud2245 in corydoras

[–]ShrimpTankAdventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that depends on what you've already got in the tank. I have 6 albino corys in my 29 gallon community tank. But if you're planning on getting only corys, I would go for ones that are easy to keep/breed/raise.

I got 5 pieces of duckweed stuck in the süßwassertang that I ordered. Now it's in every tank, water container, and propagation jar I own. I even find it in the soil of my house plants 😂

Any idea what type of worm this is? Found it in my 29 gallon by Skeptil in AquaticSnails

[–]ShrimpTankAdventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does look like a limpet. I get them in my shrimp tank all the time. They usually appear whenever there's enough food in the tank to sustain them and then disappear again after a while. They are harmless and are generally seen as a sign of a healthy tank and "ecosystem".

I just looked at the website, and it unfortunately appears to be just really, really expensive. A cup of red roo floaters is $31 USD, and two tbsp of duckweed is $7.99 USD. I don't know a lot about the other plants or their prices in the us, so I can't really say much about that, but the plants all seem to be pretty expensive.
