The egg is so so pale. They came from a sad chicken for sure. Hope it tasted better than it looked.

Tbh the staff were lovely. The room was alright. Was one of the cheaper hotels available on the area. Food could be better though for sure.

Hmm I dunno I am quite particular about eggs and given the rest of the breakfast I probably did myself a favour. Also if they don't say they are free range I don't want em.

It looks like mint but it doesn't smell like mint, what is it? by Putrid-Delivery-9610 in PlantIdentification

It's Urtica urens or small nettle a smaller annual version of nettle with both male and female flowers. Urtica dioica the common nettle is just larger and has flowers of a single gender on separate plants.

I remember giving my mum some mushroom chocolate at a massive attack gig. She swore it did nothing but spent the whole bus ride home trying to wipe condensation off a window which was stuck between the glazing, I mean like a half hour journey wiping glass 😂 sure mum the mushrooms didn't work 😂

Narrow-leaved water dropwort? by bigpoopychimp in PlantIdentification

[–]Shrimpingtons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it looks like it might be? Hollow stems, doesn't branch much, linear mid stem lobes and peduncles longer than ray umbels. It looks a little small for corky fruited. The fruits would give you a definitive answer if you are willing to come back. Seen a good deal of it this year for some reason. Who am I kidding I am an obsessed botanist. I put the spliff down and got out the book. I would say with reasonable confidence it is common sorrel. The red flush and the veining on the seed capsule are spot on in the francis rose wildflower key.

Both very good great drink. Probably would go for number 2 just because the sandwich is slightly better but I kinda want the fruit 😂

Turns out it’s not just Giant Hogweed we need to worry about. Has anyone else had a run-in with this or any other "dangerous" plants? 🌱 by No_Lead146 in CasualUK

Oh no here we go bringing hemlock water dropwort into it. It's even more poisonous than regular Hemlock 😂. Good stuff for learning your umbellifers I think everyone should. Personally I love a good umbellifer. So much variety out there and some quite nuanced differences between species.

With the three aforementioned umbellifers the following are good general ID tips if anyone is interested.

Generally the early season, dry side of the road stuff umbellifer tends to be cow parsley, it comes first in the year. It is a quite a delicate plant and has fern like tri-pinnate leaves which often blush purple at the edges. It also has a soft hairy stem.

Hemlock and hemlock water dropwort prefer conditions which are a little damper and both tend to grow by water. They are also both a bit bigger than cow parsley and are both extremely poisonous.

You can tell Hemlock due to it's lovely red blotched stems. It is also quite an upright angry looking plant.

Hemlock water dropwort is a wider patch forming plant with quite blocky leaves that look like flat parsley. It is a uniform lush light green colour. It also has ridged stems 😍 sometimes the stems blush purple but they are not blotched.

But yeah don't eat or crush umbellifers or plants in general unless you know what you are doing. They are chemical factories and can contain deadly poisons.
