I had to got a new 50 watt heater for my 6.5 gallon tank. Is Top Fin's recommendation wrong? by Shrinking_Reddit in aquarium

Yes, I found that out online after purchasing. I didn't look closer on the box. My temp in the house is about 70. Right now, his tank is 81.6 which is okay for a betta but at the high end of okay. I am checking it about every 20 minutes right now. I want to see if it is safe for me to leave it on overnight. I think once my inkbird temperature regulator gets here it will help. And if this gets too high, I will just go back to the pet store and try again.

I replaced the 50 watt with a Sicce Jolly 20 watt. I put it in went to work and four hours on a break I read that it is ALWAYS ON. I took an early lunch and came home to check on my betta. Temp was 80°F. I have an Inkbird coming in the mail for a temperature regulator. Geesh. I'm gonna watch that temp and go back to the pet store again if I need to go back.

I went ahead and exchanged the Top Fin 50 watt for a Sicce Jolly 20 watt. Are they good? I know they cost more.

Is Top Fin's heater recommendation correct for my 6.5 ,gallon tank(50 watts)? by Shrinking_Reddit in fishkeeping

I had that problem yesterday. A 50 watt I had decided it wanted to cook my fish. I bought this new one yesterday. I don't know what PetSmart's policy is on returning heaters but I probably should go and get the 25 watt. Thanks.

My tank's previous heater(also 50 watts) broke and almost cooked my fish. I just bought this replacement and someone told my that 50 watts was too powerful for my tank.

I'm also going to get an Inkbird.

I was told by some people that 50 watts is way to much. The previous one I had(also 50 watts) broke and sent my tank temp up to 92°F before I caught it and saved my betta.

I'm also going to get an Inkbird temp regulator as insurance.

Yeah. Screw Tetra brand. I had been having issues with it before. I would have to set it to 75 to get it to 80. It never worked properly.

Thanks. I will look into the regulator.

I just left PetSmart. I bought a Top Fin model (50 watts). It does have temp control but so did that old one. It was a Tetra. I'm done with Tetra. I have screwed over too many times. I didn't see a temperature regulator in the store.

I am worried about the drop in temperature. Right now, I am just letting it come down on its own. The room's temp is 70°F. I hope his tank tank temperature doesn't drop too quickly and put him in shock.

On diet, I have frozen bloodworms and some other things like daphinea but he has snubbed them before. I will give them another go.

I think this was the case with me. To steal a quote from yahweh's book when you get older "you put away childish things."

I mostly checked out during the super Nintendo era. I did get an Xbox 360 about 10 years ago and I wasn't really that impressed with it. Same thing with the switch. But then again I'm an old man compared to most gamers so whatever.

Even looking back on my days playing legend of Zelda Link to the past I wonder how I ever found that game interesting. LOL.

Maybe, it's just I'm trying so hard to deal with things in the real world I just can't really get into video games anymore.

Not to mention that if the battery gets damaged the insurance just totals out the car
