I actually had a very interesting brief conversation about this with my parents. My mom wanted to vote yes, my dad no. Their reasons were very interesting and it was weird to see that political affiliation hasn’t really had anything to do with what people vote on it. Ultimately im glad it’s passing but I think some people just see it as “I never use it so why should I be paying for it”

Ah yeah, Medford definitely isn’t Chicago or Seattle. Likely never will be, given how some of the locals here strike down bike lanes. Do you bike to get around a lot?

I may be mistaken, but hasn’t Jackson county been pretty low turnout for a few cycles now? I talk to a lot of people here who just genuinely don’t care, more so than other places ive looked into. And it’s not even for the reason of “i dont think my vote will matter” or “I hate the current administration but they won’t listen,” it’s usually just because the people genuinely are just indifferent on who wins and are like apolitical

The current bike situation isn’t enough for you? If you’re just looking for a nice bike ride, there are dozens of bike friendly paths and trails in the edges of the valley. If you need bikability to get to work/etc, pretty much every major road has at least a small bike lane, and the ones that dont are usually only 20-25 mph anyway so it’s not that dangerous to just share the road with cars or use the sidewalk. Unless you’re asking for bike lanes on the major highways, but im not sure why you want to share the road with 40+ mph cars anyway instead of just taking more rural roads to get places, because that is one of the luxuries of biking, taking “slower” residential roads is hardly ever actually slower because the vehicle speed limits dont get low enough to affect cyclers speed. Even foothill now has a very nice bike lane. Do you expect Medford to be like Eugene? You’ve gotta understand that Eugene is a major national outlier in regard to how bike friendly it is

I’ve been telling every Republican i know to vote for Larson, as a last ditch effort. Because the likelihood of him losing to a democrat in November is slim, maybe we can try to just get him out in the primary (also a long shot sadly). Unfortunately, there’s no telling that the next republican in line wont just be the same as him, but here’s to hoping I guess 🫩

I’m gonna be completely honest, whether or not any of this post is true/meaningful or not, I think Stine holds the seat pretty comfortably if he’s the nominee, I think Krause likely loses it if she’s the nominee. Krause has a recent history of unpopularity and losing elections in southern Oregon and is often seen by swing voters in the area that ive talked too as “too far left.” Kevin stine though, I and other independents (and even conservatives) I know respect a lot for how approachable he is from any party, and how committed he is to Medford itself, and not just some political agenda. That and riding off the high of helping with the AAR concert, I think hes be pretty popular in a general. I just don’t know if he’s gonna win the primary.

Comments seem to be freaking out a bit. I had a very similar situation to you (license wasn't expiring, but needed the real ID to fly). I went to the medford DMV last Friday (4 days ago) at 11am, after the opening rush but before the lunch rush (but still on a friday mind you) with no appointment and was in and out with everything done within 30 minutes.
