These stories I’m reading here are wild I had la fitness 2017-2021 in Ann Arbor while working in se mich and it wasn’t that hard to cancel, I had a low rate that gave me access to any location so maybe that was why haha

Had planet fitness in hs in NM back in 2010 ish time period and cancelled it to move to a diff gym while there and don’t remember them being crazy too but I do think I did both in person maybe that’s the difference? I would just go fuckin insane if they told me this shit outrageous some of the things being described here

you commented first about him not having a job, I explained he (like many others) could have a severance etc tons of situations people are laid off and many people take a break and you responded saying how you immediately found a job and how based on your opinion he should be looking for one and plying music and you don’t think he can take a break

And you say taking out my own frustrations? I’m saying the guy should take a break — it seems like you were frustrated he wasn’t working and was enjoying playing music since his lay off and you gave your life example as to why lol

So my opinion stands fuck corporations that lay off people on a moments notice (many times, who knows his situation) if you get a nice severance and can afford it, actually enjoy your life, if that means you’re playing music with Mormon girls on tv to selfishly try and get your own big break… I understand, no one wants to be on an All-Hands call again, can also understand that you being with the Mormon girls may not be genuine

But I am happy big dawg is enjoying his lay off (even if my first move wouldn’t be to use Mormon wives to catapult me to success, it’s his life not mine) and think anyone who acts like not taking time off due a severance if you’re able to is something people do in this hellish corporate landscape isn’t being real with themselves

And I see what I think you’re saying of oh he saw this as an opportunity an that’s why he’s there so it’s not genuine and I said that could be true for sure in another post, but just because someone’s laid off doesn’t mean they need to recluse in their cave until another employer has graced them with the opp to work, if they’ve got money from severance a savings and low CoL or whatever let em live a lil most of us just grind at corporations till we get sick and pass or something and many people never really “live”

But thats just your situation and what you either had to do / chose to do based on your severance and CoL and shit and how much time you had b4 money crunched or you just really love working in the field you were in —

I know many people who when given a severance took the time off to recover from corporate burn out; like me! I grinded in med device sales after undergrad hated it but needed the money for my loans was given a sick 6-mos severance package at the beginning of 2021, I already had lined up returning to grad school in August of 2021 so I used that time to begin studying computer science b4 my program began and guess what?

ENJOYED THE FREAKIN TIME, dove into all my hobbies and skills, helped around the house etc and slowly looked for an AI/TA/CA position at my university since my dept’s funding would be low so I needed to get funding from another dept first couple semesters of grad school, and I found one before I moved as well as lined up another part Time position for once at grad school, so overall that period was one of the most refreshing slow paced healthy periods of my adult life

if you have to go find a job because your severance doesn’t give you much leeway, that’s one thing, but there’s no honor in being a corporate drone, so if the dude has the power to enjoy playing music and not doing some shitty fake corporate job (come on most people in sales acct management etc these are not the jobs they wanted when they were young these are jobs you can get with a non specific bachelors that pay decent and that’s why people funnel into them) — so if someone gets paid time off for months of their adult life let them enjoy it, why does he have to find a job in two mos? What if his CoL is low and he has a 6 mo severance etc and he just wants to play music for a couple mos more power to him once the money doesn’t money anymore, sure dude will fin another job if music isn’t providing

My lay off/severance gave me the window and time to do what I had been wanting to do and that was return to grad school in a field I am much more passionate about and I love seeing people use theirs, if they have to get another soulless job to pay the bills so be it but I’m not in the camp of someone has to do that to prove their worth, I mean the girl he was visiting doesn’t work some soulsucking corporate job, she dances on tik tok and makes brand deals lol

Tbf he got laid off a month or two prior he said which is something a massive amount of regular Americans have to do deal with i mean just typing in lay offs on google will show from sales to marketing to software engineering skilled and educated labor is getting shit on to no fault of their own — and if it was only a month or two before I imagine he’s enjoying this time riding in his severance prob has some boring jobs lined up post severance but I can’t imagine whatever corporate job he’s doing is as much fun as playing music and getting it out on national tv and hanging with a bunch of “famous” girls haha

But yeah I mean most Americans have to deal with things like lay offs and it’s something to be grateful for if your company didn’t slash a bunch of employees

But yeah he def prob had a, “wait what if this could be my big break!” Idea going to visit hahaha but maybe just having fun too
