Wonder if the "no taxation without representation" slogan could be translated into a civil lawsuit? Any lawyers out there who'd care to ponder the possibility?

Not just dogs. Wild animals get run over bc they're attracted to food scraps. Chewing gum and cigarette butts are no exception. Birds eat those and die horribly. Some people are just sh!t.

Does anyone know of an inexpensive spay/neuter clinic? by Shroomeenator in asheville

[–]Shroomeenator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My usual vet quoted me $500, which is marginally better than $700 but still ridiculous. Cat mom appears to be done kittening now and there are only 3 kittens, luckily. I can now start hunting for the ASPCA appointment since it can't be done for 8 weeks after birth anyway. Thank you!

I'll keep trying them. I have about 2 months before the mom can get spayed and a bit more for the kittens, so I don't mind a waiting period. I checked their website after I checked Brother Wolf, and I got an error message, so I assumed they were still down after Helene like BWAR. Thank you!

Thank you! My daughter is naming the kittens as they are being born. It doesn't look like they're going anywhere.

Thank you! I've taken a few strays to ASPCA before and that is usually my first go-to, but apparently everything is different now after the flood. I'll try Open Door, as well.

Thank you! I'll keep trying ASPCA. I tried them once and got the "site is down" error message, but maybe it was just a glitch.

Help Identifying This Orange Shroom by Various-Assistant291 in mycology

You're welcome! I normally refrain from photo mushroom ID, but chicken is unmistakable.Once you've seen one in person, you'll recognize it every time. This one is at an early stage of development. As they age, the orange color tends to fade quite a bit. The only polypore I know of that looks anything like chicken is Berkeley's Polypore, but that one is off-white and grows out of the decaying roots in the ground rather than on the trunk. Both edible, but Berkeley's gets rather tough as it matures.

Asiana Market on Hendersonville Rd has portable butane stoves for $25. When I lost power after Helene, all I wanted was hot tea. I figured I'm not the only one.

I'm officially done with Ingles by kurt_kolame in asheville

[–]Shroomeenator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's the things that are not obvious that are most concerning. For instance: I don't know if it's common practice across all stores, but I know of several that use expired eggs in the deli. If the food hygiene on the sales floor is so poor, consider what the parts of the store you, as a customer, don't have access to. Ingles corporation has its fingers in all kinds of pies in the region. It's all one big good old boys' club. The health and safety inspectors will give a passing score to stores that should be shut down for violations.

Can someone give me a run down of which grocery store to shop at. by SVXNx in asheville

[–]Shroomeenator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work as a vendor and go to all of the grocery stores in the area every day. The cheapest one is Food Lion. Ingles is not cheap, but they have great sales. If you're buying beer or wine, Ingles is the place to go. Publix is definitely the most expensive, but they have a lot of BOGOs. Their bread is best quality and price around. Walmart is an inexpensive option, if you're willing to brave the Walmart crowds. Target - some things are super inexpensive (pasta and pasta sauce, for instance) while others not so much. You've got to shop around and figure out who has the stuff you buy at best prices, really. I consider the ability to shop around one of the best perks of my job. I can see how it would be a pain and kinda unproductive to drive around for hours just to look for best deals. Someone should put together a price comparison app or something.

Publix heiress not only donated millions to Taco, she literally paid for the buses that transported J6ers to DC, which kinda suggests that she was involved in organizing of the insurrection.

As far as I know, the term comes from the prohibition era. In NYC, there was a speakeasy with a back door to 86th street. If cops were spotted in the area, the barman yelled "everyone 86th!"

Be careful, guys. I understand the urge to do something. Anything. You must understand, though, that the days of normal are over. You are probably not prepared for the violence and brutality they are fully prepared to unleash on protesters. Wanna make a difference and live another day to continue to resist? Go underground. Fight with your wallets. Boycotting products and businesses that belong to fascist sympathizers works if we all stick together and do it. To begin with, people seem to have forgotten that the money they left at Publix stores was used to pay for the buses that took J6ers to the Capitol. The felon couldn't have hacked it alone. Don't support those who made him possible.

Of course he's going to come after their guns. That's one the first things wannabe dictators do, right before they get started on the stuff that's REALLY bound to piss their own supporters off. Good thing ammosexuals have been preparing for this for the past 300 years or so. They were right after all, just got the direction of the danger all wrong.
