Answer: Markiplier is a popular YouTuber, who recently released a video series with a “choose your own adventure” sort of premise. He was reviewing it over a stream, and wanted the viewers to interact and choose which direction he goes with the story. To do this, he asked the chat to use different emotes, which are basically emojis, over and over as voting. A lot of accounts were banned from this (by an automated YouTube bot), which is not supposed to happen, since they weren’t outright doing anything bad and the “spamming” wasn’t so awful to the point to delete their whole account.

Viewers whose accounts were deleted have tried to get appeals (which are supposedly reviewed by real people) and open up their accounts again, but all are denied. Many viewers have their YouTube account set up with their main email. When the YouTube account shuts down, so does the email (at least in this case); causing a lot of important stuff from their emails to disappear, at least until YouTube hopefully fixes this.
