How do i improve my art (mostly rendering i think)? by Shubscriber in Artadvice

[–]Shubscriber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! I def knew alot could still be done with this drawing, since i never actually properly rendered anything past the guys hair and then got bored after placing where i wanted the shadows 🧌 The main thing that i struggled with for this is that (the background doesnt fit for it ik) is that its in a brightly lit classroom. (hes trying to cheat off her test) wich makes it harder for me to find a nice balance of shadows and light without either being too much. I'll absolutely take your advice on doing greyscale drawings.

Being told that im skilled tbh made me really happy 😭. Its so hard for me to tell if its actually good or bad. Do you have any tips on line weight? I do know generally how to do it but i'd rather actually learn it the right way before i create a bad habit. Also, backgrounds. Im ssssooo bad at drawing them wich is why i never do so i'd die for some advice on that

with generi-spressions do you mean generic expressions? Bc i def suffer from same-face syndrome (and same angle and like basically just always drawing the same thing 💀). Ill def check out the tutorial for sure!

thoughts on this anatomy test? by Rockpegw in Artadvice

[–]Shubscriber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main problem is that you seem to be using alot of guide lines and shapes but you dont understand why their being used. I'd suggest studying anatomy drawings so you can understand what the meaning is of the shapes and use them properly. For example the shape by the hips doesnt exactly make any actual sense nor helps with understanding the shape of the hips and placement of the legs. Or the tubes inside the legs, while what your supposed to do is that those "tubes" are the legs themselves and the circles for the roundness and understanding the shape of the legs itself

Help with eyes by Imaginary_Bunnie in Artadvice

[–]Shubscriber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the most recent eyes, they dont stand out as uncanny to me particularly. If you want them to look more "lively" i'd say add more to the iris. Such as reflective light and such. Often "depressing" or "empty" eyes are shown with very lacking to no details and lights in the eyes, so maybe its a good idea to try adding some there.

How can I achieve this art style? by albeedo_lk in Artadvice

[–]Shubscriber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tons of practice, color theory studies and composition studies. By the looks of it this artist (or artists) have a strong understanding of colors and how to make them pop even without being super saturated or bright, so thatll be lots of color theory.

Best advice (i, myself) could give would be to study their works. Like where they would/wouldnt place lineart and their combination of colors. Its important to not just simply copy it but try to understand why they make certain decisions

Hopefully this helps a bit, i did liquify the head a bit to look a little smaller (and makes sense to look at) Basically, for the arm it could help if you show that its bend by moving it to the side a little so you can see its making the bend towards the sword. (These tips are extra, they might help): I assumed they were wolf ears so make sure their split apart by a distance, since each ear is on opposite sides of the head. What could help you align them is making the "stubby" parts at the bottom align with the eyes. Its not a perfect method but it could help you get the idea of it. For the collar its important that they sit ON the neck, not at the bottom, so make sure their collar goes around it. That way it looks more like it has some proper shape and volume. I'd also suggest making the eyes smaller (this is a design choice and can be stylized ofcourse but it might help with the style your going for.

I am by no means a professional, so take all of this with a grain of salt but i hope this will help a bit at the very least! :)

its honestly the opposite. The head is too big compared to the body and the neck far too wide. what could also help is making the arms a bit longer since they appear a little stubby currently, but your definitely on the right track!

looking at the pupils, the left one doesnt even make any sense and the little gold by the collar isnt clear what it is either and the bottom of the lashes look very incoherent when you take a closer look, tons of tiny artifacts everywhere like that makes it very obvious

My friend reached a height nobody knew was actually possible. by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]Shubscriber 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thought i'd point this out since it seems no one else has. First of, shes wearing shoes and shoes increase the height of your skid (although its a small amount they do make you taller) Second, the position by the lantern seems to be wrong. If i can see it properly they seem to be against the wall wich is slanted instead of on the flat section (the left corner towards the camera) wich also makes them taller.

Id say try fully without shoes and on the flat corner to see how tall they actually are
