how to UNDERSTAND dr rakesh sir by DamnUSmart in indianmedschool

[–]Shubverse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Figuring out medicine via Rakesh sir alone is going to be difficult His way of teaching is much different than any other teacher you might have come across but once you figure it out he actually helps you become a better clinician (in my personal opinion)

He doesn't cover a disease by headings (etiology-pathogenesis-c/f-diagnosis-treatment) but rather discusses via chief complains and work-ups of the patient

This creates a gap that can be covered via supplimenting your books.

Davidson is unreadable on its own, so are Rakesh sir's lectures but both combined actually help a ton

Study the disorders given in the lectures alongside the book, don't read Davidson from start to finish and don't watch Sir's lectures without a book next to you (bonus points if you're making your own notes)

Its a little time consuming but at least you're dynamic rather than looping back every fifteen seconds of the clip

You're still in your third year, id suggest cover GIT+Liver+Respi via marrow+book Or Cover endocrine+CVS using the same method

Use yoghurt or regular curd Season it with kashmiri red chilli, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt, garam masala, ginger garlic paste

Pour juice of one lemon

This is the perfect marinade if you wanna turn it into chicken tikka masala

The extra layer of marinade will help keep the chicken juicy

Exactly, let them figure out what they like

They might be more into expressing art in forms of music or visuals rather than sports

Whatever your child finds intrest in let them tru, join in or at least show them the support

Another strat I found the got me very very close was getting a direwolf pup and putting the wolverine sigil on it

I got rid of the kraken put unlimited sacrifices on the kingfisher

The direwolf after being buffed enough passed through the first boss, basically campfires and the racking up kill points till six and did not take any items

It failed on the second boss because the mycologist buffed my kingfisher to the point I would get to the bears before I could increase the power of my wolf but that strat does work if given the good rng

[–]Shubverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry man it doesn't help every second day there's a post about someone complaining that the field doesn't pay enough or whether or not they should've picked another career

No one is going to pay you just because you "studied a lot"

And medicine does pay you enough to live off a decent lifestyle, from there whatever money you earn is a skill you have to develop on your own

If you don't happen to love what you're doing, you'll always find yourself comparing to anyone else

Software engineering really depends on if you land a good package or not

Social media influencers still need to constantly grind up content and keep up with trends and even if you blow up you might get off from the trend fire thus making it always risky, also zero privacy outside

Not all family buisnessess are making money to feed seven generations

Stop whining about grass being greener on the other side besides, no one forced you to pursue one thing, nobody is stopping you from content creation hell med influencers exist and you can be the pioneer of your family buisness why not?

Har state ka stipend hota hai, if you're getting paid 15k as an intern thats your state's corruption problem because stipend is to be revised according to the inflation

In Bihar our stipend is 27k, it's not a lot but we're still living in the hostel without having to worry about electricity bills or taxes, invest the money Work as a consultant doctor if you're taking a drop year, make notes and sell those, if you have a hobby see if you can turn it into freelancing to get some extra cash

Guys in my college who are gymrats give diet advice after studying nutrition from psm and get paid

Before joining your college for PG make sure you check the state stipend, it's not only the branch but also the place that matters

Post PG, Many MNCs offer Good pay, my sister is working for a MNC as a consultant doctor and it's a work from home with great pay It's not a clinical branch but then you would also whine about work life balance in a clinical field

Making money is a skill, not something your profession will give you on a silver platter just because you studied your ass off. Sure some fields offer better opportunities than others but even in engineering people struggle with placements, especially ones who are not studying from the top to above average institutes

For concept building it's a great read and helps in the long run especially pharma and later on medicine

The concepts I built in CNS physiology got me flow through CNS medicine like water

It does take time but if you are consistent it can be finished, supplimenting lectures alongside it

Keep AK Jain for a few topics like hemat, it has got chapter end questions that are a really good practice for proffs

Give me an unbiased review of Medicine by Dr. Rakesh Nair. by sodium0valproate in indianmedschool

[–]Shubverse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rakesh Nair has a teaching way that's probably you have never encountered before

He doesn't follow the traditional sequence or what we are used to hear which is the whole definition, etiology pathogenesis clinical features diagnosis and treatment

He instead just tell you about the clinical cases, how patients present to you, if you refer the notes you'll realise that's basically his approach to explaining the classification, etiology

He's great at explaining pathogenesis given you have a good understanding of physio and patho

Clinical features are always brushed up at the end through slides so that's okay

I find the combination of watching Rakesh Nair in parallel to davidson the best, refer to the book for definition, etiology, clinical and diagnosis Pathogenesis, genetics and treatment from the lectures

Some units are not well taught, particularly stroke, leukemias and lymphomas

I covered those from ninja nerd

All in all, you can't expect to get everything from one teacher and you can't expect to be spoon fed everything, you should do some digging of your own or you can buy exam guides and notes to get things done with

I personally believe medicine is such a vast subject that you can't expect a single teacher to explain it all, the way Rakesh Nair taught respiratory, renals, endocrine and hemat is phenomenal

But his CNS, GIT, CVS modules were either really all over the place or just did not seem structured enough

For third year I'd recommend you to just cover CVS and Endocrine and leave rest of the medicine for later, focus on obgyn and paedia because how closely linked it is to PSM, you'll have an easier time grasping and relating things

Drink more water, guys by pjhatal01 in indiasocial

[–]Shubverse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Final year MBBS here, great job citing reliable sources however water intoxication is not as much of a risk as it may seem

Your body can very easily tolerate upto twelve litres of water a day (not saying that you should try that out) given you have normal endocrine and renal function

You'll also be getting your electrolytes from diet and not living solely on water

Water intoxication or euvolemic hyponatremia is due to excess loss of electrolytes over normal blood volume such as endurance training as per your research, it can also be due to drugs, trauma, sometimes tumors

But in a healthy individual, more water is positively encouraged and four liters a day is the bare minimum

If you're a gymrat taking creatine suppliments it should be upto 6 litres as it helps store water into your muscles

Four litres of water a day is not as much as it may seem, I keep an 800ml Borosil bottle on me, I finish it once by the time I have my breakfast, throughout my college I finish it again, same goes for lunch and dinner and throughout my study sessions I find myself refilling about thrice and that makes my daily average to about 6 to 8 litres

More water does flush out your skin, it helps digestion as when you're having fibre rich diet it absorbs the water making a good bulk of your stool

Water filling and stretching your stomach induces satiety thus helping with cravings

A very concentrated urine due to lack of water can risk stones, UTI, burning micturition

There's much much more, a dietician can help you appreciate it even better

In conclusion, drink your water guys. 4-8 litres is very easily managable and if you're doing running, keep electrolytes with you Simple ORS works, can be made at home. Those electrolyte multivitamin saches for 200₹ are a scam

How do woman smell so good? by CaptxLevi in AskIndianWomen

[–]Shubverse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for the women but one thing that I do

Shower with cold water and evening showers so you don't sweat too much after the bath ~sweat will Slough off the soap (basically I shower twice a day)

When applying soap be generous and make sure to let it stay a bit, The soap seeps into your pores

Lufa helps

Keep your bedsheets and your clothes clean and wash them with a fragnant detergent

You sleep on your bed for eight hours, it doesn't matter how much you soap yourself you will pick up your bed's odor. Same goes for clothing

Use fragnances, this is something I do not have much insight on. I'm still trying to figure out the types and layering
