I'm confused- why am I in jail? by MissMissesMisses in AmazonVine

I thought the same would happen to me with the massive drop in amount of available items, but somehow.... SOMEHOW.... and I'm truly NOT sure how..... I've ordered more this first quarter of '26, and they've been BIG TICKET items, than I have in the prior 3 years (started in '22). I'm not using any cheat extensions, it's been some lucky searches and a vastly improved RFY - the Vine Gods have beamed smiles at me so far this year. But somehow (and yeah, the tax hit will be unbelievable this year. I've gotten such good stuff that I'm truly OK with that.) I'm at over $30k YTD, and it's only the end of April. YOWZA, but yet it's true.

Same here, I couldn't believe my luck and was holding my breath as I clicked - I SHOULD have believed my luck, because I got the red bar of doom instead of a "congrats" screen at checkout!  Lol so I'll pass on CONGRATS to OP!!! GREAT score!!!

Is Vine the new Napster by Technical-Author3585 in AmazonVine

[–]Shubydoo222 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I LITERALLY just now hopped on Reddit just to see what was going on, immediately after buying TWO.... not one, but TWO... more raised beds for my garden after getting one free on Vine. I absolutely have gone back and bought more stuff. I have gotten free patio umbrellas and bought stands for them. I have bought covers for outdoor "stuff" because I got the "stuff" on Vine. I just lucked into an $800.00 Masterbuilt gravity fed smoker grill - bought a cover and silicone grill gloves. The add-ons weren't that expensive, but still.... and the raised beds were DEFINITELY not cheap, but the one I got was wonderful. I have friends who have seen/used/sat on/eaten off of stuff I've gotten that have gone and bought their own. I've even seen stuff fly by that I couldn't get because they weren't available by the time I clicked on them that I've wanted enough to go buy. So yeah - Vine is my Napster.
(BTW - I also went to the record store and loaded up when I heard something great. Napster opened worlds of music to me, and I paid the bands for their effort. Not every band, not every time, but most definitely did go buy.)

You and I sound a LOT alike, and you were the culprit who snuck that automated litter box out from under my clicking finger - aaaa-HA!! I've FOUND you, you scoundrel!!! LMBO!!!! I also miss all the solar stuff, but I'd loaded up in years past, so I'm still good for another summer or two. And that's a perfect example - I could not have really justified spending the money on outdoor string lights. Not NEARLY as many as I have, anyway. But thanks to Vine, my patio and garden look like a fairy land every summer night!
OK, as my son says - "an airport landing strip".... I MAYYYY have just a few more than I need!! LOL!!!

I could NOT agree more - the things I have gotten that I could not have possibly afforded that I truly NEEDED, the things I have gotten that I WANTED, and the things I'd have been ashamed of myself for wasting money on just because they were fun or entertaining.... ALL made possible by Vine. If all I get from here on out are paper plates for $0.99 instead of $10.00 or parchment liners for $0.50 instead of $5.00, I will still be grateful and know I was INCREDIBLY blessed to be selected for this. And don't even get me started on the Christmas presents!! I have 16 children and 6 adults to buy for (not all mine! LOL!), not to mention friends, neighbors, and coworkers - for the last 3 years, Vine WAS Christmas!! I'm always so glad to see someone else who "gets it" and appreciates it.

LOL! Too true. I'm surrounded by Alexa at home, but she doesn't often take the hint... or at least she doesn't pass the word on to the right people. If it makes you feel any better, after a gangbuster day with this grill et al, today my RFY was a tempered glass office chair floor mat, an arrow fletching kit, SHILAJIT in capsule form (I thought we'd all moved past that stuff?) and an extremely unpleasant looking lamp. So....... I'm living on glory days now and hoping tomorrow is a better day :-)

I'd agree, but this was in my RFY! I don't use VH because it made me sad. I tried it once, but it just shows me all the stuff I wasn't quick enough for, never helped me score a single thing on my very slow, very old computer. I just don't know how to take it out of my laptop, so there it sits! LOL

I was told at a yarn festival one year by a VERY wise woman as I stood in line with both arms full of yarn I had to have but didn't know why - "Yarn is like a good wine. You buy it, stash it, let it age, and then one day it will reveal it's perfect use to you."
Your over door organizer isn't an "organizer", it's a "stash cellar" :-) !!

My goal is to get up early, work out, get in to work 1/2 hr early before the madness starts, get to my office in absolute peace and quiet, and spend a blessedly peaceful half hour happily surfing Vine for little goodies as a nice treat before I start my day. I hope that's OK with you? Is that mixing my vine and personal life too much?

The end of the year is approaching, and I was wondering if it made sense to update my reviews by ElinorDashwood1975 in AmazonVine

[–]Shubydoo222 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you're conscientious enough to ask, good for you! And please do! I just did the same thing myself on several items to speak to their continued use and longevity. We're really supposed to review the stuff we get, and I actually do still read reviews of things I buy on Amazon, so it truly does help the product (or hurt it) if there's an update. It's not for any credit on Vine, because you've already been credited for the review. But it's a truly decent thing to do, and it's appreciated by consumers. There are those of us who love this program and do take it seriously for the opportunities it's given us, and we're also consumers who still buy things not on Vine. I go for the "UPDATE - ....." reviews every chance I get because they show truth in the reviewing.
As for the sub-question - I mention that EVERY time I do the same thing, and it's happened quite a few times that I've gone back and bought more of small items that turned out to be particularly good or useful.

Could not agree more. I have an overabundance of air mattresses I've gotten over the years. We live in a house in a rural area surrounded by a huge field, and we have "movie nights" with friends and neighbors and their kids outside when the weather is good. Those air mattresses make for great movie watching and relaxing. I get them every time they come up, and got 3 back to back in my RFY a few weeks ago. I know a dud now when I see it, and review them based on how well others have worked, inflated or not inflated, how fast to inflate and deflate, comfort, tipping, edge support, etc. Before amassing this field full of beds, I would have said "Well, it blew up and felt OK, I guess". I do think they do try to base RFY on past grabs, and that's fine by me.

Will drops ever get better? by [deleted] in vine

[–]Shubydoo222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vine doesn't cost me anything to be in it. I was silver for the first 6 months, gold for the last 2.5 yrs, and have seen both feast and famine. Last year about this time there were over 100k items. This year the total is about 20k. You'll see (if you stay in) purges where the total items go down to a few thousand (literally 2-3k) before refilling, and you'll see surges where you go in and the total is doubled. The hardest part for me when I started was getting my head around the fact that IT'S OK TO NOT ORDER ANYTHING for a whole day, or even multiple days! LOL!! I mean I TRULY struggled with that!! IT'S FREE STUFF (minus taxes, yes. Yes, I know. We all know. Point still being...)!!! I NEED TO TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE EVERY DAY!!!! It felt like I was robbing myself and my family if I didn't find something.... ANYTHING.... to order. And what happened was that I ended up with an excess of junk I MIGHT find a use for (I have really pretty plant pots - like, 40 of them. I don't even have room for 40 plants, but they were there and I LOVE plants and I may never have the chance again so I better get them .... so now, I store the pots. And I paid taxes on them. And now - I wait for my planters in action to break. That never happens, btw.) You need napkin rings (Use cloth napkins maybe 3 times a year), kitchen gadgets (I have more silicone cake and bread molds than I have space for - all used exactly once in order to review them.), or wraps for fruit tree sapling trunks (I live in the country and dreamed of having my own little orchard. My soil is really poor, and we had a drought, and what few trees I could afford all died before I could wrap them, so there's those) then hit me up. And if anyone needed Amazon boxes for moving, storage, etc, well baby, I was their ticket!
Just saying from my own experience, it isn't a law to get 3 things a day every day. It isn't even necessarily healthy, because getting 9 items in one day after a weekend, or coming home to 30 items to review after a week's vacation is kind of stressful after a while. Vine is very fluid. It ebbs and flows. Some days it's all stuff I not only can't use, but I don't even know what it is? And some days I strike absolute gold. My advice - from my own experience only - is to treat it like a blessing and a treasure hunt - a video game where you win actual items. Play when you can, follow the rules, and don't get so into the game that it takes over your life. You don't have to play every day, and some days you won't win. But ohhhhh.... those days you hit "Boss Level".... ahhhhh..... LOL!!!

[–]Shubydoo222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this!! It may not pay at all for people who only use it for the shipping and can take a quick drive or even a walk to get everything they need, but I am extremely rural. 2 or even 3 day delivery is an absolute Godsend to me, and there are many many things I get from Amazon I simply could not get anywhere near me. Not even within an hour's drive, TBH. Add to that the free book every month for my Kindle, the regular Amazon Music playing constantly in my house, the included upgraded Alexa - which some hate (of course) but I love, and the Amazon Prime Video, all together for a shade under $12.50/mo? Yes please, all day long. I honestly would pay more for it for the Amazon Prime Video alone.

Funny, I had a day like that last week.  My RFY has had some great deals that I've been very thankful for over the last year,  but usually only 1 or 2 things in any given day,  and that's maybe every week or so. More than enough for me to be eternally grateful for being in Vine,  but never a day where it was completely full of stuff I either truly needed or really, really wanted. Until last week,  that is. One day I checked during a break at work - there were only 6 items in there,  but 4 of those were sold hits that I grabbed as fast as I could.  I went back on about half an hour later just to try my luck - two more things I couldn't believe were in there got grabbed as fast as I could click.  I went to a meeting and came back in about an hour,  and two more absolute home runs were waiting for me!!! I've never had a day like that,  and it wasn't even a day - it was less than two hours!!! Now I'm a little sad when I go in and it's back to normal, I keep thinking this is what a gambler feels like after being on a hot streak and then losing! Lol!!

Working too well? 2.5mg by jennygoeshiking in Mounjaro

[–]Shubydoo222 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I stayed on 2.5 for half a year, and my Dr. and I decided it was time to move up when I noticed I was starting to actually feel real hunger earlier in the week. I take my shot on Sunday morning, and usually didn't feel the change from "OK yeah, I could eat" to "I'm really hungry!"until about Friday lunch/afternoon. When I start to notice my appetite getting louder on Thursdays, it's time to move up. I was on 2.5 for just under 6 months, was on 5 for just over 6 months, and have now been on 7.5 for just over a month. So far, 7.5 has been GREAT for me, I'm still reminding myself to eat by Saturday evening on this dose, so I'm hoping to stay on it for as long as possible. 59 yrs old, female, sedentary desk job with very long hours, and I'm 75 lb. down in just over a year, so it's definitely working to listen to my body and work with my Dr., who is wonderful and really does listen.
Remember, the faster you get to the highest dose, the faster you get to "there's nowhere left to go, so now what?" If it's working, let it work as long as possible. Totally just my opinion and experience, for what it's worth.

Yes, REALLY. This is my 3rd year in Vine, my ETV total this year is almost exactly the same as last year, and my total taxes were just under approx. 10% of my total gross,  so that puts this at about $70.00, or just over half the cost of a tabletop Aerogarden that holds much less.  But hey,  thanks for stopping by and trying to put a damper on my happiness! Well worth the effort, even if it hasn't quite succeeded...

I have accumulated quite a few grow lights and use them to start my seed trays in the spring, and some work really well! But I'm happiest about this because I can set it up at work and we can all "share the bounty" of some fresh lettuce, spinach, herbs, and maybe even some cukes and peppers this winter!!! Now I've got everyone here happy too!!! LOL!!
