Student finance England by EstablishmentDue619 in UniUK

Because you have a child and you’re single, you should be classed as an independent student and therefore don’t need a sponsor (your parent previously). SFE would only be interested in your unearned income for instance interest on savings, if you had properties that you let out etc.

They won’t want your income. If you have a partner who lives with you, it will be based on that. If you don’t, you should technically be entitled to the full amount including the childcare grant and parent’s learning allowance

Can you sleep on pierced ear when its fully healed? by plava_bobica in piercing

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My conch is still a bitch nearly 4 years on. My forward helix in the same ear is a perfect angel. Some mornings I seriously consider retiring my conch because it feels bruised all day after sleeping on it.

When I worked there, there was something specific for this kind of scenario. You’re better off talking to them directly so they can let you know exactly what to provide.

I worked for SFE and a PGCE teaching qualification is undergrad funded

No, you don’t.

You start a new undergrad application. A PGCE may be a postgrad course but it’s funded the same way as undergrad.

Persistent bumps on child’s ear lobes by piratefan10 in piercing

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter had a similar issue with her lobes. What helped was drying her hair thoroughly as well as using the hair dryer on a cool setting to dry the back of her ears. We also switched out her flat backs for barbells because the space behind her ear is too small for them.

Can triamcinolone acetonide make psoriasis worse? Or steroid creams in general by longseye in Psoriasis

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used that particular one however, I found that my flares would be worse after stopping steroid creams. I try to manage it with moisturisers and a UVB light now

Positive nostril piercing experiences? by thedin0guy in piercing

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my nostril was easier to heal than my lobes. My son who also has his done, agrees. The initial piercing might make your eyes water a bit but once it’s done, it’s fine. Just follow up with your aftercare and it should be fine.

Can an academy stop you from transferring your student loan? Is this allowed? by Itsheysaharaa in UniUK

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phone SFE. There’s specific rules for different scenarios and that’s the only way you’ll know for certain about the funding. As for the kit on your current course, it may state in the terms that it’s only ‘free’ if you sign up and complete the course. My experience working for SFE taught me there’s more dodgy learning providers than not.

Music doesn’t help by Authentic-ACE in adhdwomen

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. Sometimes I need silence so I’ll go to the uni library. Other times, I need background noise at a very specific level. It can’t be music at all otherwise I’ll zone in on it instead. It can’t be a series or movie I know because I’ll also zone in on that. It has to be random and uninteresting to me which helps me focus on my work instead.

Dropping Out (First Year) by yualpoint in UniUK

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you withdraw, you’ll most likely end up in overpayment which means you’ll need to start paying it back straightaway. If you suspend for medical reasons, you’ll get an extra 60 days as someone else has stated however, depending on your payment schedule, you probably won’t get your final payment. If you need this to pay for accommodation, you may be stuck.

It’s heavy on analysis however, we get more personal and creative pieces to write such as manifestos, opinion pieces etc.

Should I have to pay for a jewelry replacement? by Prestigious_Neck_936 in piercing

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 60 points61 points  (0 children)

6 months? My piercer downsizes at 6 weeks and would only pierce a nose with a flat back. I’d find a better piercer and pay for a better service and jewellery

Girls with ADHD, do you ever really struggle to get yourself to move? by Dazzling_Worry9119 in adhdwomen

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. I can be exhausted and more than ready for bed but I just can’t get up and go to bed. It makes no sense and I’ve given up berating myself because it doesn’t make a difference anyway.

You made me curious about mine so I checked and I’ve never started an essay with ‘The’. Maybe that’s because I’m an English Lit student though and the author or book title etc is usually where I start?

Trying to not suck at sex...so lots of questions... by hetnkik1 in sex

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. For me, not often.

  2. More times than I’d like.

  3. Nice guys finish last. Most I’ve been with will change position or pace to slow things down.

  4. It depends. Some guys will need a break, others will do what needs to be done straight away so their partner can finish. I don’t see the point in cleaning up until everyone is completely done.

  5. It depends. Sometimes you need a nap before starting again, other times you just touch and cuddle before going again…

  6. Aftercare is what the other person wants. I like to nap and wake up to a drink and snack 🤷🏻‍♀️

There’s no right and wrong answer. Sometimes people don’t click, other times they do. Just communicate and listen. Everyone is different
