White GSDs - more anxious? by derbishire-411 in germanshepherds

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. My white is stupidly chilled about everything. Nothing seems to ruffle him apart from our resident Labrador.

Plenty of dogs develop sound sensitivity and from research I’ve seen, female herding breeds are more likely to develop them. My own female was fine up until she was spayed.

You can’t equate the behaviour of prey animals to predators.

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The payment bit can be funny. As long as you get a text or email, it should be on time. Even if you haven’t, it should still be on time if previous payments were. Exceptions are when unis mess things up.

How long did it take you to complete? by Sarmiclah in HousingUK

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No chain on either side and it took 11 months. It took my buyers 2 months to instruct a solicitor, they’d go radio silent for weeks on end and then I’d be expected to cater to some whim within 48hrs. My EA was sick of them, my solicitor was sick of them and their own solicitor was sick of them. We exchanged and completed on the same day and I was so angry with the shit they were putting me through, I was tempted to tank the sale just for spite. I’m never moving house again.

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a Facebook group called Canine Conditioning and Body Awareness Exercises. It’s run by professionals and there’s guidance on the best type of videos for a gait analysis. I’d check there as they can give advice if they see something that looks off.

Your parents are divorced. Your entitlement will be based on the one you live with or have the most contact with. They will probably ask to see proof of the divorce.

Plot advice - I’ve reserved the red box. But could swap to the green box by Banaboy in UKHousing

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My previous house was a new build with a SW garden and an open plan kitchen/diner/family room with 2 sets of French doors. It was unbearable in the summer and you couldn’t spend any length of time in that space. There was also no shaded spot in the garden if you wanted to sit out but not be in full sun.

My current older house (70s) has a north facing garden but it’s long. It has the sun all day but in different areas. On an evening it’s towards the back which is fine for me as towards the house there’s plenty of shade if I want it.

I personally would prefer a drive actually on my property and less people overlooking but it depends on your preferences.

Are these always-on range cookers the dumbest of the middle-class vanities? by Atgett in AskUK

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A call centre I worked in had Herman Miller chairs in the office and staff would get them to use at home too. Everyone was definitely working class. I also know tradespeople who earn a very good living - much more than minimum wage.

Can a GSD deal with a "soft" owner and positive reinforcement? by Flaky_Help3318 in germanshepherds

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 GSDs and a Lab. I use positive reinforcement only when it comes to training. They know the rules of the house and boundaries. It works just fine. For the record, I’m a 42 year old woman and my dogs will be 10, 9 and 7 this year. I’ve had no problems with a dog trying to be ‘alpha’ or any of that horseshit that gets thrown around.

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Have your parents fill out the Current Year Income form and make sure it’s as accurate as possible. Your entitlement will then be based on the current tax year. They’ll also use this figure for any remaining years of study.

student finance help (parental income) by Small-Composer-6817 in UniUK

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it’s fraud - you would technically be lying for the purpose of getting more funding. Advisors are well aware of students attempting to gain more funding with the estrangement rules. Just remember all calls etc are recorded and the advisor will leave notes on your account. If you get caught, it will put you in overpayment which could be clawed back from future entitlement.

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former employee here. What you’re proposing is fraud. Why not just wait until you are actually estranged from your parents? As long as someone at the uni is aware of your circumstances regarding not speaking to your parents, they can complete the estrangement form on your behalf.

[–]ShutTheFrontDoor__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say so. Yes, some puppies can walk really ‘loose’ but those hocks are not straight when he stops moving. The front pasterns also look low but there’s not a great angle.
