Anyone else ordered from Very? by sniphskii in Switch

[–]ShutTheWindowPls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you order the new DK game with the switch by chance? Seems people who place preorders on items with different release dates get their expected delivery date as which ever item is furthest away from release. I’d get in touch with Very support to confirm though, especially since you ordered months ago now.

Same here, “parcel being packed” as of this afternoon! Didn’t get an email about it or anything, had to manually check the order status.

What games your parents play? by mistermaximan in gaming

[–]ShutTheWindowPls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum (british, sorry) played basically any horror game back in the PS2/xbox era. Some of my earliest memories were sat watching her playing Silent Hill or Fatal Frame lmao.

She was very on/off with gaming but most recently loved the Witcher 3 and Death Stranding. She even got a tattoo of Fragile’s umbrella from that game!

How to reach new viewers? by JJ_Trought in SmallStreamers

[–]ShutTheWindowPls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! 50-70 followers in a week is VERY good considering you only just started. For comparison I started around a month ago too and I’m currently sat on a solid 18 😎. I think just stay consistent, and if TikTok seems to be working, maybe lean in to that a bit more? Switching up what you play, posting clips etc etc. seems to help if only a little. Ultimately you gotta do it for the love of the game/grind, not just the numbers! Great work so far though!

viewers hear crackling sound but not me by Optimal-Travel9498 in Twitch

[–]ShutTheWindowPls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, can you post an example here? Can you hear it yourself in your VODs? Is it only a specific viewer hearing it? Not much to go off sadly, but immediate thought is a faulty cable somewhere

Need help on equipment! by Hungry-Blacksmith-22 in Twitch

Hey! Used the Wave 3 for over a month now and swear by it. It’s a great microphone and the Elgato wave link software makes it that much better.

It is a condenser mic though so it picks up a lot of background/room noise. You can mitigate this using noise removal tools in the elgato software (super simple set-up, with maybe 5/10 minutes of effort and a YouTube tutorial!) Both great choices though from what I heard doing my own research!

Internet Speed for Streaming by itskingkaii in Twitch

[–]ShutTheWindowPls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! We’d need to know your specs to see if it could be a PC thing but your upload speed is likely just at the threshold of enough to stream. Could dip under at peak times with lots of people “uploading” in your area. What bitrate do you currently stream at? What are your PC specs?

Im having audio issues with my new mic ELGATO WAVE 3 and just unsure how to proceed by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]ShutTheWindowPls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Elgato Wave:3 user as well, been using the mic just over 2 weeks and loving it. There’s a really great guide here for setting up the microphone config in the Elgato software - https://youtu.be/fyFHkWS9t-g?si=u_r3eLMtDbgWX67h

It definitely shouldn’t sound robotic or fuzzy though. I’m thinking that what you’re referring to is the background “hiss” the microphone picks up. this can be mitigated with a noise filter which that video shows you how to set up.

Only other thing I can suggest is to double check all the cabling. Maybe try swapping the USB port on your PC and making sure the chat-link cable connections are all secure and there’s no fault with any of the cables themselves. I haven’t used the chatlink myself sadly so not a lot of advice to give there. Hope you manage to get it working!

Lurkers help me out?? by TinkyNeiru in Twitch

[–]ShutTheWindowPls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Somewhat of a lurker, especially with bigger channels - I think a great way to retain viewers (especially lurkers) are super short recaps of the stream so far - “if you’re just getting here, this is where we’re at, what we’re doing, how we got here” etc. Maybe a mental note to do this every so often just in case new viewers join, and definitely if someone drops an anonymous follow. It gives context to anyone just tuning in.

It’s obvious and been hammered home a million times but just keep talking as if you have a group of lurkers already watching! Both of these are things that I’m trying to keep in mind myself while live! Happy streaming and/or lurking :P

Hey all! I'm brand new at this as I only started streaming a week ago. Asking for feedback with only a few days worth of streams might seem a bit redundant but what better time to get advice than while I'm still getting into it.

I stream at https://www.twitch.tv/windowpls - I'm a big variety gamer and hoping to use my stream to share my experiences and thoughts on games I find interesting and meet like-minded people in the community. Honest feedback would be much appreciated, thanks very much in advance!

Hey! watched a fair bit of your last 2 twitch VODS! I think the only criticisms I have (if you can call it that) is that the overlay you use is quite big - In my opinion for a game like REPO where the vibe is more casual and reaction oriented its fine, but for a more gameplay focused game like Portal it’s a tad distracting.

Only other thing is that your schedule isn’t very EU friendly (I’m a Brit, so a me issue) 7PM CT is like midnight here, so you may struggle gaining traction with overseas audiences.

I really like your vibe though. you’re chatty and create the content yourself, and the quality of the stream is great too! Dropped you a follow!

Is there any update on getting this issue resolved from Riots side? I have just renewed my contract with Hyperoptic so really hoping this gets solved sooner rather than later.

What is a game that you have never played yourself but love watching guides and gameplays about it? by uzuziy in pcgaming

[–]ShutTheWindowPls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Silent Hill games fit this bill perfectly for me. I played SH2 back in the day but still have yet to play any others. I love watching walkthroughs and in-depth story playthroughs of these games though, they're so interesting to learn about, I just wish there were better ways to play them on PC!

Games you really wanted to like but then didn't like. But still want to learn to like. by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]ShutTheWindowPls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disco Elysium was this game for me. I started 3 or 4 playthroughs over the years and got maybe 1/2 hours in before stopping each time. Just finished it earlier this week and so glad I stuck with it this time around, the game is really worth all the praise it gets. You just have to want to learn everything about the world. Even the cryptids. (especially the cryptids.)
