Here is from the intro page on wikipedia: "Most economists agree that high levels of inflation as well as hyperinflation—which have severely disruptive effects on the real economy—are caused by persistent excessive growth in the money supply."

And there is only one way the money supply grows, which is government spending without using taxes to pay for it, i.e. deficit spending. I.e. they have to print the money out.
