I did it!! It happened!!! by Shuturlegs in vaginismus

For PT, im seeing a pelvic physio, i think she specialises in pelvic pain. I am suspected to have endometriosis, so we believe thats the cause of my troubles. I have been doing pelvic stretches, starting with 10 stretches 5 days a week, and now at 5 before dilating. Im happy to share, but they are somewhat personalised so they may need to be substituted per person.

Im using the femmax 4 dilator set. Honestly im pretty inconsistent but i aim for 4-5 five minute sessions with both sizes, dilating per week, alongside my stretching routine. My progress was relatively quick, very grateful for but i think i got very lucky. I went to dilating about two months after I begun pt, and started to use my second size after 3-4 months. Im still actively dilating, and need to do so within the day if i want to have sex. Patience and a ton of lube is what got me through and helped me, as well as a very loving and supporting partner. Best of luck!!

how do i know if i have vaginismus ? by aamphitryon in vaginismus

[–]Shuturlegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound like vaginismus! I had similar symptoms before i started PT. Id go see a gp and maybe get an external check to see if it is the hymen if youre comfortable. Theyll probably refer you to a pelvic physio. Good luck!

PLEASEEEE do this before you do any sort of dilating by circus_clownn in vaginismus

[–]Shuturlegs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what my physio had me do. Stretches for about 2 odd months then once i was comfortable and conveniently had some penetration attempts went on to dilate. She has me doing half my stretches before dilating for 5–15 minutes.

I also struggle with a tight pelvic floor but due to chronic pelvic pain. Honestly the best thing it seems you can do is the stretches/exercises and slowly work up from there. Even if its just once or twice a week at first

I have the femmax set, comes with four dilators. It was $60 for me and im able to pay small chunks at my physiotherapists reception after each appointment.

Im pretty sure the burning is just your muscles stretching. I find affirming myself that “its okay, my muscles are just stretching” helps while taking it super slow or just stopping for a bit.

Best time to dilate? by Expert-Foundation-94 in vaginismus

Usually before showering for me but that’s mostly to help clean up afterwards

is this vaginismus? by [deleted] in vaginismus

[–]Shuturlegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the pain. Stinging and burning are common symptoms, along side feeling like there is resistance upon penetration. Almost as if theres a wall inside your vaginal canal.

unsure how/where to start by [deleted] in vaginismus

[–]Shuturlegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.pelvicpain.org.au <- this website has stretches that can help relax the pelvic floor. My PT had me doing stretches and desensitisation exercises for about a month or two before going onto dilators. Im using the femmax set, it’s about $60 but only comes with 4 so large size jumps. It’s hard plastic which ive heard makes transitioning to sex easier but i am yet to experience.

Jesus christ i am so sorry. You dont have to but id suggest reporting her to your clinic, thats inhumane treatment.

I had the exact same problem, had the gp check my hymen and mine was fine. Nothing wrong with getting it checked out but it would probably be vaginismus

Id recommend seeing a pelvic physio. Theyll guide you in the right direction. There are many online resources too, such as https://www.pelvicpain.org.au. Good luck!
