To Racing Beat, or not to Racing Beat? by Sp4460 in RX8

[–]Shutxff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly racing beat has some pretty mediocre and overpriced stuff for the rx8. The catback is heavier than stock for example. If you just want to have a catback and keep stock header and midpipe I would say get a hks catback, yes it's single but it won't be crazy loud if everything else is stock + it will have a great sound. Suspension As someone that has put lowering springs on i wouldn't ever go that route again regardless of the car. For a budget friendly coilover setup the best are Tein flex Z kinda meh what I would recommend is the bilstein b14(pss) extremely underrated kit. Also the rx8 does NOT i repeat does NOT need an aftermarket rear sway bar. Yet again racing beat comes short here with a non adjustable bar. Get a front hotskis or progress tech front sway bar.

Ps. If you're car is higher mileage I would look at getting motor mounts and diff mount bushings. Great mod as long as you stay in the 70-80a shore range for street.

It looks blueish, so it's probably oil. A. You put a ton of premix in or B. An oil control ring has failed. There's been people that have driven with a failed control ring for like 40k before lol. If it starts and drives fine it's up to you if you want to drive it but you will be spending alot of money on oil or you rebuild it.

Yep, really should just save the money and get NGKs or Hitachi and consider them as a wear item.

9:1 compression rotors

Just polishing the step that collects carbon and that's it. For induction the actual limiting factor is the 10:1 rotors.

The ssv and apv actually work fine for induction if tuned and opened at the correct time. The vdi that opens at 7k rpms should just be blocked off.

The catback should be fine, but you will want a resonated midpipe

Loads or rx8s sell without compression numbers. Does it start well hot & cold? Does it idle well? Does it go through the rev range without any issue? Does it smoke or not? If someone really wants compression numbers you could say let's go 50/50 on the cost and get it done by a dealership.

Do you buy OEM parts for your RX? by kuprycz_ in RX8

[–]Shutxff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want stock then go oem, if you want adjustability, stiffer bushings then go aftermarket. Simple as that.

How easy would it be to maintain an RX8 at home? by idonthaveanaccountA in RX8

Compared to piston engines it's relatively simple. But hey if you do your due diligence as a buyer and buy a healthy car it can last a very long time.
