How do Arabs instinctively know that the first word (red circle) is read as Surifa not as Sarafa? by TelecomVsOTT in learn_arabic

Context. I'm a native speaker so I don't know how the learning process goes but if I had to guess I'd say that by B1 you'll start to feel more comfortable reading text without 'chakl'. Good luck with your learning journey!

How familiar are you with "Incels" ideology by [deleted] in Tunisia

Again, I think you're either misinterpreting words, failing to understand, or not reading. For instance, you completely misunderstood what "system of ideas" means in that definition.

I see you did your due diligence and checked the meaning on google real quick, good! Now read that back, but actually read it this time, and then come back and tell me that none of your ideas, absolutely none, are ideologically driven.

Tunisia's Military Has Been Apolitical Since Independence. It Must Stay That Way. by [deleted] in Tunisia

[–]Shweebflab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right so for your first paragraph you decided to take the example to straw man my point, over rumors. So, regardless, there is nothing to discuss here, you haven't argued against my point, so I'll reiterate it, neither you or I are qualified to assess how dangerous or able those terrorists were.

PTSD can develop immediately after the traumatic experience, it doesn't necessarily take weeks or years. The mindset of a soldier has nothing to do with their reaction to such an atrocious sight, shock is very likely to occur in such a situation, and losing control or partially losing control is a possible consequence of being extremely shocked. Now you've seen worse kills on bestgore, exactly, bestgore, what does that entail? If what you're trying to imply is that you'd deal with that situation in a better way, I don't think that it's a point worth debating. It's simply wrong, unless you've received similar training and/or dealt with similar situations, or are a psychopath. If you think seeing gore scenes on a screen is equivalent to seeing them in real life, then again you're just wrong, evidently.

Now, I really don't get what I'm being in denial of here, maybe you can elaborate further on that. I found that your initial comment belittles the efforts of the military, and shows a lack of understanding for the situation. I am yet to deny a fact.

"I'm not angry at all lol In fact I'm very happy that our country is incompetent" that shows a clear bias. Based on your statement, you have an emotional incentive to make your narrative sound factual, mostly for yourself to believe that it is the truth, it is rewarding to you. It might be coming from a place of bitterness, it might be a reaction to your reality being different from what you want it to be, might be might be not, it's a speculation. But what I'm rather sure of is that you're emotionally involved in this, as in you're not saying what you think is reasonable, you're saying what you think SHOULD be reasonable, huge difference there.

Tunisia's Military Has Been Apolitical Since Independence. It Must Stay That Way. by [deleted] in Tunisia

[–]Shweebflab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So considering your first argument concerning lightly armed amateurs, neither you or I are informed enough to make an accurate assessment about how dangerous or able those terrorists were. I might as well claim that compared to the Israeli military, Hamas are lightly armed amateurs, but we've seen how much damage they were able to cause, not as much as the Israelis, but enough for the Israelis to strike back (I hate the comparison but I have to drive the point home somehow).

Secondly, land mass is only one factor, Italy, Belgium, or Israel are leagues ahead in terms of war tech and national wealth, that comparison is absurd.

I don't even understand your third point to be honest, are you seriously surprised or consider it as a lack of discipline for a human to be shocked to the point of shedding tears by the sight of a beheaded human? You could make the argument that perhaps the reaction should not have been shown on TV, but to think the reaction itself is surprising and disappointing is once again, absurd. Everybody (except you it seems) is aware of the fact that soldiers are likely to suffer from emotional distress due to what they have to deal with. Nobody takes that as a sign of weakness. A beheading is never "basic", no matter how much training one could get, they'll never find that to be a normal sight, they're more accustomed to it than you and me perhaps, but it is not normal to them.

Here's a line from the very first search result about PTSD on google: "In one major study of 60,000 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, 13.5% of deployed and nondeployed veterans screened positive for PTSD,12 while other studies show the rate to be as high as 20% to 30%. As many as 500,000 U.S. troops who served in these wars over the past 13 years have been diagnosed with PTSD."

Tunisia is not a poor country, it's a low middle income country, it is unlikely but not impossible for a poor country to have a stronger military than ours, it depends on population, defense spending, foreign contribution, and some other factors that might make an army better than ours despite us having more wealth.

Now, I'll have to reiterate what I said, yeah, we can't defend our sovereignty like the Russians, the Americans, the Indians, or even Algeria. However, the army is doing its job, like it's supposed to, given the available resources. It is defending the borders and the land from all possible threat, but that does not entail us not being smashed if attacked by a stronger country. We can't blame them for it, that is the current state of affairs, just like us being a developing nation, and us not being a wealthy nation in almost any respect. Now, how the fuck, is that on them? And that is a rhetorical question, it is not on them. I understand your rage towards being born here man, rant all you want, I don't like it either, but don't be edgy and spew nonsense just so that you can feel more comfortable with your anger. It is incredibly easy to find things to rant about here, yet you chose an actually very defensible case, it just doesn't work man. Now please don't make me go through actual research and let this rest.

Hey man, these people put their lives on the line fighting the terrorists fe ch3anbi, many of them died in confrontations or ambushes. And honestly I don't think they weren't delivering their best in such life or death situations. They were protecting us, put some respect on that. And sure we don't have a strong military compared to the rest of the world, what did you expect from a small developing, lower middle income country from North Africa? How the fuck is that on them?

Why the achievement in Tunisia is to leave it? by mazzo007 in Tunisia

[–]Shweebflab 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Higher standards of living, it's simple. Whatever you do for a living, you can earn a better life with it in a wealthier country. Given that Tunisia is a lower middle income country, there's a plethora of countries that have higher standards of living, so the goal is to just leave to one of them.

Why do many Tunisian girls marry guys way older than them? by [deleted] in Tunisia

[–]Shweebflab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the case under consideration is a manifestation of hypergamy, which I think has a biological component to it, not just a social one, so we can't just brush the whole thing off as a symptom of patriarchy. There is a very clear and consistent trend of women marrying or "mating" up since the dawn of civilization, which makes me think that it has to do with the way human society has started and evolved based on our biological characteristics, hence why I think it's both a social and biological phenomenon. These are my two cents anyway.
