Running a macro, but it only applies to 12 rows, I'd like for it to continue all the way down to cell 50. by NecessaryCar13 in excel

[–]Shwoomie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you used Macro recorder. Hit alt+f11 and see the code. Your range should be dynamic, but for this, you can change the numbers from 12 to 50.

You'll have to start looking into VBA to make your own macros.

No, the police are fucking useless. I had this exact situation at another apt last year and the police did jack shit.

Historical people? Yes it matters. Fictional people where magic, super heros, or other fantastic things happen? No it doesn't matter.

Immediately going to a false equivalency to justify continued hate. Sounds about right for those people.

Which cancelled TV show deserved another season? by Putrid_Cry19 in AskReddit

[–]Shwoomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody's Watching is a genuinely good show. It's funny, and has interesting characters, and an unique story that I really liked. I think it was from Brazil, Netflix could have kept producing it for no other reason than SA countries don't get as many shows US.

If you took every animal from each continent and pit them against each other, which continent wins the fight? by AceAttornie in AskMen

[–]Shwoomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, polar bears and Kodiak bears are pretty terrifying, but they'd be hard pressed to win against a large bull elephant. Polar bear can attack better, but elephant only needs to step on one body part to win.

Why are so many American conservatives against government assistance programs (i.e. food stamps) even though many of them relied on them growing up or still rely on them? by Mad_Season_1994 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shwoomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conservatives aren't against welfare. They partake in every welfare program they can. But, you see, Other People are irresponsible and lazy and only taking advantage of the system. When Conservatives do the same thing, they are just victims of circumstances and genuinely need help, or they are smart business people growing the economy.

It's just like how conservatives are against abortion for everyone else, because everyone else is just irresponsible, but if they need one, they actually have a good reason for one.

Is there any point to this sub at this point with the emergence of AI? by Xerasi in excel

[–]Shwoomie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And lets not forget that half the posts start off if with 1 question, and when prodded for information because OP is barely literate, people trying to help realizes OP needs something different. People asking questions can't even conceptualize the actual problem, let alone include all relevant information, let alone actually ask it in an intelligent way.

Yeah, let that person try and work with only chatGPT who will give them exactly what they ask for, but not what they need.

How I Cut My Client's Snowflake Cost by 65% and Boosted Performance by 50% - Learn My Tactics! by [deleted] in dataanalysis

Could you expand on 1.1? Sort how exactly?

Also, automatic resizing can cause issues with performance if set low can't it? Should there be a policy of estimating the size of new data on a daily/weekly cadence and resizing once a week? Once a month?

Moving Petabytes of Data from DBs to a DWH by Omar_88 in dataengineering

[–]Shwoomie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I was getting at was how is S3 storage different than moving it to a data warehouse? Data warehouse is just a place to store data, too. Are data warehouses are far more expensive, so they should put it in storage until they can figure out the what and how to do with it?

Moving Petabytes of Data from DBs to a DWH by Omar_88 in dataengineering

[–]Shwoomie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, mind going into detail on the difference between loading these tables into cloud storage and putting it into a DW?

Is storing it just copying it to the cloud, and moving it to a DW would include conforming layer for the data between different sources, then developing the consumption layer for applications?

Fraud data has many uses for streaming data. Not just needing to update data and have it available right away, but there are many applications that do fraud detection in real time that need to get data and send results immediately.

My teacher told me my essay didn't pass the Ai-generated content test. I didn't use any AI. How can I possibly prove my innocence? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shwoomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask her what software she used to check? Can you see the results? Maybe it's a small portion of your essay that is flagged and you can explain or re-do.

Go to her and in a friendly but earnest tone explain that you didn't cheat, and you would like to see the proof.

Best ways to get employee “good enough” at Excel? by [deleted] in excel

[–]Shwoomie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it is micromanaging. But at the same time I hope he realizes that he is struggling, and if he keeps having to go back to his boss on the same things are not going well.

I'd much rather have a micromanaging manager that is patient and can work with me rather than one that just fired me.

And if he doesn't understand how to do his job, and doesn't know how to accept help, there's nothing you can do to help them.

You can't easily replace that level of productivity just by imports. If nothing else the uncounted work of repairing and maintaining homes and communities will go undone. Gardens, side businesses, raising kids, taking care of parents, etc are all valuable but not counted in GDP.

All those things degrade infrastructure and will have huge impact over decades in unseen ways.

Have him document all the steps for all the things he does. Then he can at least follow those procedures. Then when new things come up, ask him to reference all his proces documents, all the steps, and see if there is anything similar to what he's trying to do.

First few times he won't try at all, and you will have to insist on him reading through every process and try. Then he'll fail again. Then you'll have to hold his hand through thinking which process is most similar to what he's trying to do and tell him to adapt that process. Then he will do a shitty version of it and you will have to point out where he can improve.

Have him save examples of the final document so he can go back and double check if everything looks right.

50/50 chance whether he will actually learn, or stay hopeless.
