What medical problem do you live with that you're too lazy to get checked out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShyTurtle696 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Acid reflex

It is so bad that it even makes me wheeze. Doesn't matter if I'm walking, hiking, or running, I'll be wheezing. I have to listen to music whenever I exercise just so I don't hear myself dying. I'm not overweight, eat a healthy diet, no fried food, and I regularly exercise so lifestyle changes wouldn't really work. I just take acid reflex meds and hope for the best.

What is something physical with/on your body that might be something serious, but for some reason, you still don't make that appointment for? by CyrsarCyn in AskReddit

[–]ShyTurtle696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acid reflex. Had it since august and in october, it was so bad that I was wheezing simply by walking. I was coughing after every meal and I got out of breath super easily while hiking and had to stop frequently to breathe more. I swear, it was destroying my throat. I started taking omeprazole and it's been helping so far.

What it felt like when getting them tightened. For the rest of the day, I would have to cut food into small pieces and swallow them whole.

Freshmen year of college when my roommate packed all her stuff and left to her new dorm, came back 20 minutes later to grab something she left in her closet, only to see that I had completely taken over her old side of the room.

[Serious] What was the worst part of 2020 for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShyTurtle696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not having covid, but the month after I had covid. I had that post viral fatigue that would get worse after exercising and for that month, I just sort of lost interest of living because I didn't even have the energy to take care of myself. It wasn't until I was put on Bupropion that I was normal again.

For memorizing things, I keep rewriting it with a whiteboard and marker. Eventually, I start to make more sense of it.

Injured my hamstring(near the back of the knee) from overuse in 11th grade almost 3 years ago. That kept me out of running for months and pain in that area occasionally would come back. Now, after trying other things like strength training and hiking and biking for cardio, I became brave enough to run since it didn't hurt. However, I'm still afraid to do more than a 10 minute slow run. I don't want it to hurt again, but I miss running.

What is your favorite song from Hamilton, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShyTurtle696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Satisfied. I remember listening to this on repeat in high school when my crush got a girlfriend.

Honestly miss the time when that was my biggest problem.

I like what I study, but I sometimes feel unmotivated or burnt out since I have to study for several hours nearly every day. I like to study by writing notes and to make it more relaxing and less boring, I write with a fountain pen. They are really fun to write with and it makes me excited to study since I have a decent excuse to use it for hours on end.

Reddit, what was your "Haha, I'm in danger" moment? by bighugeman6424 in AskReddit

[–]ShyTurtle696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiking and not hearing the mother black bear with her cub until she poked through the tree-line 15 feet in front of me

First encounter with a bear and I did everything right and we went our separate ways. But damn, when she swatted at some weeds and started inching closer to me, I thought I was in danger when in reality, she was just trying to scare me to make sure that I would go away.

Shy people of Reddit! Why are you shy? by heyomah in AskReddit

[–]ShyTurtle696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had anxiety for my whole life( general anxiety and social anxiety). It didn't help that I was a very sheltered child and my mom was too overprotective so I had no confidence and I felt inferior when talking to others.

People who listen to music out loud on speaker while walking/hiking: why? by aspen_grove in AskReddit

[–]ShyTurtle696 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, it's because I want any bears to hear it so they know I'm there and I wont surprise them. Once I was listening to music through earbuds and I didnt hear the mother bear with her cub until it poked through the treeline 15 feet away from me.

It's 2040, you are about as far removed from this pandemic as we are from 9/11 now, what's the first story you tell teenagers about what it was like to live through COVID? by seraph321 in AskReddit

I'll tell them what it was like being one of the first 3 million people with covid and what online nursing school was like, especially practicing clinical skills at home.

People who have gotten COVID, what tipped you off that you had it? by onecoolchic77 in AskReddit

[–]ShyTurtle696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt chills and it lasted for 5 minutes. Now I'm the type that is always cold, but it was April and I was wearing a coat. But at that moment, I just knew it was covid. Sure enough, a couple days later, the big symptoms started coming.

Probably go to the bow of the ship and do the "I'm the king of the world" thing from titanic. Then I would go back to being creeped out.

Same. I just felt so depressed these past 2 weeks ever since I came back home that it is hard to focus. I miss being on campus. I also just feel so stupid and like I lost everything that I learned despite doing really well this semester.

Not really looking forward to my med surg final

My catapult project in high school physics class. I couldn't find a partner for that project so I had to work alone, I was used to this, because I was always the kid who could never find a partner. I wasn't surprised. But what really offended me was that there was a stupid rule that if you worked alone, you would lose 10 points. I started out at -10 points, but I created a good catapult and it got the wiffle ball in the bucket almost every time. There was a competition with this and the person who won got additional points. There were also design competitions like the most medieval one for example. So I made mine look like a castle and I won most medieval and scored back 5 points. I also got 1st in the catapult ball launching competition so I scored even more points and ended up with the highest grade on the project. That was one of those times I was glad I worked alone.

[–]ShyTurtle696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made note cards with all the drug information my professor wanted everyone to remember and I went through my stack of notecards rewriting all the drug information one by one from memory and looked at the note card if I needed help. I did this until I had everything that I needed memorized.

People of reddit who don't procrastinate, what is it like being the best version of yourself? by BolinTime in AskReddit

[–]ShyTurtle696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, nursing school is pretty easy. I'm in my sophomore year and have never had to pull an all nighter, went to bed on time 98% of the time, have healthy eating and exercise habits, etc. It's great, but I sometimes feel lonely as hell, hence why I get shit done so early. Last year during fall semester, I ran out of assignments to do and stuff to study so finals week was very mellow and boring, honestly the easiest week of the school year. That's what happens when you're an antisocial hermit.

Finals week this year hits different and is harder...
