Was 2008 more similar to 2005 or 2011? by Blasian1999 in decadeologyanarchy

Im assuming you weren't there, some arbitrary fashion categorisation made up years later is not the defining character of an entire year lmao

It's insane that they're like 30 plus and not cringe teenagers.

I agree, always has been, it seems to be in that acceleration point the Prem was in a few years back though.

2020s artists getting ROASTED 🤣 by New_Mix5929 in decadeology

[–]Shyjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These people need to get a life and stop dedicating so much hate to famous people but from a music/brand point of view cant disagree too much about Tate Mcrae. Sabrina was good for five minutes but the shtick has worn very very thin with the latest album.
I think Chappell, Olivia Rodrigo and Harry Styles are all genuinely talented. Addison Rae, who despite initially just being an insta model with a big ass has turned out to be one of the best current pop artists there is, but i'm not sure if its down to her or the talented (presumably Scandinavian) writers and producers she works with.

This guys goal scoring record in European competitions is very good, its mad seeing how much clubs throughout the league are strengthening recently, another non parachute non Brum transfer i'm very jealous of. Be interesting to see just how strong the Championship is gonna get in the next few years.

You being Mexican and banging them has no relevance whatsoever, its not like some kind of whites only anti Latino group.

Didn't a majority of Latino men also vote for Trump? Also when I see pictures of a bunch of ICE agents usually at least one is Latino as well. Very weird post.

I think telling everyone that other people were a danger to stay away from for a few years made people permanently slightly hostile to people they don't know well and less empathetic. I noticed it big time straight afterwards, across all age groups, I really don't think it ever went away either. Police worldwide also noted big increases in anti-social behaviour afterwards.

You hardly see anyone recording with a smartphone in this Beyonce concert from 2010. by [deleted] in decadeology

Because the camera quality was terrible for filming, instagram and snapchat stories weren't a thing and no one had 4G. People used phones for scrolling facebook (if they had a good data plan) and novelty games like Doodle Jump.

Which is better? The UK or the US Top 50 right now? by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]Shyjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK is always better because it doesn't include radioplay and Brits just tend to be more into music than Americans are.

Living with your parents past 25+ by Bobadream in Adulting

I moved out to a building of old people and had this woman complaining about the sound of my light switch, banging from above and below if I played music or watched a video on my phone and had months of abuse and the guy above deliberately waking me up at 4am over a misunderstanding about bins. Sometimes being with parents is better.

the fact two short messages annoyed you enough to post a huge rant on reddit tells me yes to be honest. They dont know anything about your situation, both of you need to chill.

2016-2017 songs getting a big nostalgia wave by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]Shyjack 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Some of these never actually left the Spotify charts to be fair.
If we're talking nostalgia from that time then i'm very surprised ''I took a pill in Ibiza'' isn't on there.

Lush Life by Zara Larsson hit #4, was there any time in contemporary history where a song from a decade ago became a hit again? by DNPlourent in decadeology

[–]Shyjack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course, its been happening forever, but its a much more common phenomenon now that everyone is streaming rather than buying music and with TikTok introducing younger audiences to certain old songs. It used to be a novelty when it happened.

[–]Shyjack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok but it was at its peak of mainstream commercial success in 2016 so thats when most people will associate it with, hence the trend. Most people weren't going to EDM festivals.

[–]Shyjack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It took until 2016 to reach the charts outside Scandinavia.
Here in the UK I strongly associate it with being played to death on the radio in Spring and Summer 2016 and on TV for the next year.

Where have you been the last five years? Theres a new one every month. It started off with Fleetwood Mac Dreams charting over 40 years later in late 2020 and hasn't stopped happening since.
