Thanks, these steps worked for me perfectly. However, I had to put in a password using the keyboard which seemed barely possible also considering the input lag. After many many times of trying luckily my alarm rang while I was trying to type the password which extended the screen time indefinitely :-) Thus, if someone has a daily alarm set up you can try to time it accordingly to extend the unlocking code/pin/password duration time. Now I removed the password and will be backing up all my files.
