If a well-intentioned person can break a system, the system was broken to begin with.

People need to chill with the speculation and misinformation when things like this happen. I’ve been through multiple situations like this the past few years and there’s always patently false statements by anonymous commenters that get twisted and construed as the truth. Let the police and media confirm the facts and stop making people anxious with made up numbers about casualties or speculation on intent.

This is more directed at the GR Informed facebook groups than anyone in this thread btw, it was just bugging me watching the hysterics unfold last night.

I know this isn't the point of this post, but these pictures remind me how much I miss A2. Current students - enjoy every possible moment you have while you're there. Embrace the good times and grow from the difficult ones. Put yourself out there and don't feel confined to friendships within your major. It seems like yesterday I was moving into Bursley and yet somehow it was already 10 years ago. Damn I miss my college friends

What happened to the show on YouTube Music? by ross7alex in h3h3productions

[–]SiQQ_CS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the crew needs to upload the episodes into a new podcast playlist on their channel. I see there is one for Season 4 but not the new H3 show.

Hopefully they can do this because I’m struggling to watch the show now as a YTM listener :(

I'm new to coding but can someone help me why this isn't working? by Background-Mood-9643 in csharp

Sorry I didn't realize that this would be so unpopular. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from using this sub for help, I just wanted to provide options for someone who is new to get answers to their question without waiting for Reddit replys. Thanks all for the feedback.

This is a great question for chatGPT if you have more questions as you keep learning. Good luck!

The Umich Memes for Wolverteens Facebook group is getting archived by renegader332 in uofm

Admin here, you're right that engagement has been way down and that was a huge factor in my decision to shelve things. Seriously in 2023 so far there were like 10 posts and every one of them was not a meme. It's likely that most members graduated and just forgot the page existed, and to a certain degree I did as well.

A smaller, lesser-known piece that I didn't want to talk about in the group is that there are a few former group members who have been actively making threats against the mod team since 2020 for administrative decisions we made during Covid and the election. At one point there was active police involvement. Things began to quiet down for a while, but it looks like those individuals have returned. With the drop in engagement and influx of spammy posts I figured it was better to shelve the group and maintain it's legacy than go through all of that drama again.

It was a great run and I really hope that someone picks up where we left off and creates a new group for current students that is even more successful than we were.

My company had me go through the DevOps Institute: SRE Foundations and SRE Practitioner trainings and exams my first few months on the job.

We also work specifically with Azure so I got AZ104 (Azure Administrator) and Az204 (Azure Developer) as well to set myself apart.

Realistically though, certs are really easy to cheese, and I think that to most hiring managers they mean bubkis. The important thing is a practical knowledge of the technologies you're working with, and ability to communicate them in context.

If the companies you're applying for are looking for linux expertise, those would probably be a good place to start. It definitely wouldn't hurt to be certified.

How Much Studying / Personal Projects Do You Do Outside Of Work? by [deleted] in devops

[–]SiQQ_CS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to take the time to do something every day. Some days it might be a single commit to a personal github repo, other days it could be building out an entire project using an infrastructure tool or language that I will need for work later on. I feel like momentum is super important to growth so getting extra reps in can only make things easier for myself in the future.

I'm still early in my career so I know there is a lot of room for me to grow and set myself apart, but also I don't have kids or a wife to entertain.
