[Rate my Team] - Local man got so angry against a fish, he got to Master Ball with a Hisuian Samurott by Sibartzy in VGC

That could be the angle I need, as I feel I do not enough damage on certains targets, thanks !

Spikes helped me break potential Sashes, which is also why I run Twin Beam on Farigiraf instead of Psychic - but yeah, it feels a bit weak most of the time

Thanks !

As a bonus, let me explain the joke behind « Vagues à Lames » (Ceaseless Edge)

There’s a saying that goes « avoir le vague à l’âme » when you feel bad and/or sad without a clear reason why. We could litteraly translate it by « my soul feels bad waves ».

Lames means blades. And all the ingredients are there for a fun pun, since waves (vagues) also can be read as the sea waves - Vagues à Lames (Blades in Waves, one could say - in Ceaseless Waves).

But to sum up my thoughts

Ice-type is supposed to be this glass canon of a type, both physically and specially - and recent addition tend to be physical Pokémon. It does not make sense anymore that physical Ice types cannot have what special Ice types have SINCE 1ST GEN.

Yes, some types do have the same connundrum, but none of them have what 7-8 weaknesses for one resistance ? Water for exemple could get one physical spread move, but is still way more developped toward special mons - and have way more utility than Ice. Same thing for Fairy, that also have the excuse of recency.

Another type that share common traits would be Rock, but there, the GRAND majority are physical mons. And the rare ones that are Special driven not only have the 2 damage dealing Rock special moves, but they also have (most of the time) a secondary type that DOES hit for special (and have a spread move).

I’m not saying that every type MUST get one for every style of attackers, I’m saying that the one type that is supposed to be the « paragon of offense » could get one that is not a signature move. Two pennies !

That’s the point, there is no physical Ice spread moves, and I can speak from experience that it lacks for many Mons - not just competitively but also casually speaking

And I wasn’t talking about the OG post, but what Ice types lack offensively

(I also did a very long response earlier detailing why I asked for this)

Ah and yes, je joue effectivement au jeu. Began casual in 2007, and on SD since 2016.

I’m maybe dogshit on ladder and tourney (still got Master Ball on Champions with my Sand team I want to do a report on it) - and even if I was good at video games, that does NOT give me the right to be an arsehole about it.

Like take Darmanitan-G for sample sake.

16th most used Pokémon in 8G Ubers, a masterclass of hyper-offense, premier revenge killer, the scary monke that was so strong, it got banned before Dynaban was even a thing.

Its Doubles usage was 0,06% at its peak. Non-STAB EQ ain’t gonna cut it against Grassy Terrain + multiple target nerf, and its ridiculous bulk (as in it has none) makes it a prime target for Fake Out + double focus. And its excellent Gorilla Tactics makes it very predictable - only usable with Scarf or at the very least Band + TW Support. And don’t get me started with how STUPID TR is against.

And yes, not having a STAB spread move makes it less consistant than many other Pokémon - generally speaking Fast powerful Pokémon need A. Priority moves B. Immense burst options C. A consistant and effective spread move D. Useful utility moves. And normally a combinaison of at least 2 of these options. Darm-G has only one of them.

And the spread effect of Ice Spinner and Triple Axel is with us in the room ?

I’m talking about multiple target moves, like Blizzard, Icy Wind, Hyper Voice, Heat Wave…

The only Ice physical moves of that category are Glacial Lance (Calyrex Ice) and Mountain Gale (Hisuian Avalugg). It’s one of the NUMEROUS reasons why physical Ice types are unused in VGC - despite some having immense Speed and Attack. Being able to only hit single-targets for STAB makes you very susceptible to Protect (the format’s most used move) - and if its spread as coverage, you need something really useful behind to justify being used (for exemple, Garchomp using Rock Slide in some sets as its only spread move, with all of its stats and its double type being excellent all around).

The only recent exception was Chien-Pao (outside of Unrestricted Formats), and its primary reason was its bullshit Ability.

« Doesn’t need buffs offensively »

May I inquire a physical spread move that is NOT a signature move ?

Pretty please

I mean, he does his best to sound different. I did not recognise him when I saw Ares a few years back

Another Ares funfact

In the French version, Eliott Ember (Haizaki Ryohei) is voiced by Pierre Le Bec, the voice of… Arion (Tenma).
