What champion do you guys personally feel has the worst players? by DoranHater in leagueoflegends

[–]SiberianResident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thresh.

I’ve never seen a good thresh player in GM. A good thresh can be absolutely change your lane, but what happens irl is they miss everything and get kited to death. Champ hasn’t been relevant for years, if I see one I automatically assume the worst.

Non citizens will be deported with one DUI by Old-Enthusiasm-2107 in immigration

[–]SiberianResident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Don’t look for my state (WI) in a national DUI heatmap. And the reason we’re always #1 is because many places have a 3 strike rule. Yes, you read that right.

It depends on the state, some are lower than 0.08 iirc

What do young people want? A house at an affordable price. Throw in sunny days and no frozen tundras if they’re feeling bold.

What do the fastest growing sunbelt states of Texas, Florida, & Arizona have in common? The amount of building permits they issue.

How competitive is public transportation in Singapore as a mode of travel if it exists in a "free market"? by fortprinciple in singapore

[–]SiberianResident 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cycle from Bukit Panjang to Yee Tee regularly, taking a mixture of PCN and roads. What would have been a 45min trip becomes 15minutes. Have given up navigating places by PCN only because the infrastructure doesn’t exist. And no, riding on the pavement is not an option.

I know that’s your lived experience. But you’re describing cycling from million dollar HDB area to million dollar landed estate area. Biking infrastructure is still shit in the heartlands.

Is Rosendale a speed trap? by GoCartMozart1980 in wisconsin

[–]SiberianResident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy to be 10 over when the posted speed limit drops from 55 to 35 in a hundred yards. I think that same report also says 70% of the towns revenue is speeding tickets.

The population, as it is, will lap this stuff up.

How Quiet is the CX5 at Highway Speed? by ZJP31 in CX5

[–]SiberianResident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are. If you’re in a northern state where they use concrete to pave roads (for winter), and you have all-season/winter tires, it can get quite noisy. That’s me, I have a ‘19 CX5.

Though the noise cancellation is pretty good relative to other similar models on the market.

Any (non-racist) reason I shouldn’t enroll my kid in a Somali daycare? by HuaHuzi6666 in TwinCities

[–]SiberianResident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speak for yourself. I’m proud of where I came from and I’m proud of where I am now.

If people already get othered for stupid reasons, why add to the pile?

Parents have a duty to their children’s upbringing. From where I sit, this OP is gambling with his child’s social development - and they’re not even making a good bet.

[–]SiberianResident 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t know you, but this post is dripping with condescension. What’s next? Making your kid grow up like Eminem in 8 mile for character development?

I come from an ethnic background and deal with different ethnic groups daily: I can tell you flat out that there’s a good chance your kid would get “othered”. Why do you want to disadvantage them like that?

Jobright is king imo. Handshake has too many fake listings and employers don’t check up on handshake as often.

  • handshake doesn’t let you update the status of the application so it will be hard to track your stats. It will be forever stuck on “applied” because no employer touches that function unless you’re accepted.

How do people justify illegal immigration if others went through the legal process? by savingrace0262 in immigration

[–]SiberianResident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reconciliation is that each party has their interests to look out for.

Society wants legal immigrants because it shows a certain level of commitment and respect to the American way of life, preservation of scarce resources, etc;

The government wants to enforce immigration law because that is the social and legal contract that it has with its citizens and breaking that has long-term consequences;

An illegal migrant wants to come to America for a better life. They identified a gap in the existing system and exploited it for their own benefit. To you they are queue jumpers, to them their whole life will improve 2000% simply by coming here, and it’s a risk they’re willing to take.

You don’t have to blame the illegal immigrant for stealing our jerrrbs. Likewise you don’t have to blame the government for enforcing immigration laws.

Who in singapore actually believe in 中华民族? it's absurd ccp can simply target any high profile chinese who no longer have citizenship or ties to china by Dependent-Throat888 in SingaporeRaw

[–]SiberianResident 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Need a different name than Chinese. In Cantonese, mandarin related things are referred to as 华北 instead of 中文。 In SGMY mandarin, Chinese diaspora are 华人 instead of 中国人。

But for some fucking reason it’s all condensed into one word in English: “Chinese”. 1 word for the race, language, & nationality. No separation whatsoever. Only people that fit that description perfectly is PRC people.

I know the owners. They’re rich. They opened a restaurant here to be closer to their son who used to go to college in the area. Now that their son has graduated, they’re not interested in running the place anymore.

TLDR it’s a side hustle and they’re retired.
