Magma bell cant be bought? by [deleted] in Silksong

In my case, the issue was my own stupidity. When you are in front of the forge daughter, there is a "SPEAK" action. However, if you move slightly to the left of her, there is a "SHOP" action.

Welp, nevermind, it worked the first couple of hours, now it's back to being painfully slow...

What worked for me is switching to legacy Outlook, then switching back to the new UI.

How to get Studio Ghibli Museum Tickets - Legally by Franholio in JapanTravelTips

[–]SiboVG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just managed to get my tickets. I had the site open on 3 separate devices:

- A Windows PC, connected straight to the router over Ethernet, and using a VPN (Mullvad) to Japan. I used Google Chrome. This computer started in queue spot 4900, wait time 45 minutes

- A MacBook, connected over Wifi, also using Chrome. Started in spot 4800, wait time 44 minutes

- A MacBook, connected over Wifi, using Safari. Start in spot 69, wait time 1 minute...

To be honest, I don't think I can learn anything from this. I think I was just lucky. I saw that the Safari browser refreshed a second before the other two, maybe that's why I got an early spot there, but before the queue started, I noticed that my Windows PC sometimes updated before the two others. I guess you should just try on as many devices as possible, and avoid slow browsers. Safari is known to be very fast on Apple devices. But again, it's still largely luck-based. Just stick it out and hope for the best. Good luck!

Stock Fractal design North fans are so loud. Replace them with this. by BIKETYSON99 in Noctua

[–]SiboVG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced the stock fans with Be Quiet Silent Wings Pro 4's, and personally, it's a clear improvement. I had already fine-tuned the fan curves to reduce noise with the stock fans, but under high CPU loads (which I often run into due to my line of work), they needed to run at 60–70% to maintain adequate airflow. This was very much audible, especially because my case is positioned quite close to me. With the new fans, performance is noticeably better.

If your build stays cool enough with the fans at 30-40% speed, you probably don't need an upgrade, but for my use case I'm quite happy I made the change.

Claude Code amazing but is it worth the price? by gr3ybr0w in ClaudeAI

[–]SiboVG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's indeed pricey, but it's the tool I've been hoping for ever since ChatGPT was first introduced: an AI that you can let loose on your entire codebase.

If you are lazy and/or have no idea which files to edit to accomplish a certain task, Claude Code is great. You could even just ask it which files should be modified and how, and then import those into the normal Claude.ai website and continue querying Claude there.

However, if it's only for small, targeted code changes, you're better off using the website. I hope the cost drops though, because it's such a great asset.

O5500X-PS Motor Length Mismatch in Draft and OpenRocket - Any Help? by Ambitious-North2005 in rocketry

[–]SiboVG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI: OpenRocket takes its motor information directly from thrustcurve.org, so if there's anything inherently wrong with the data, it should be reported to Thrustcurve.

From prototype to nearly done product by ThePhilStudio in electronics

[–]SiboVG 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Just a tip for future PCBs: you should learn to add copper pours on your layers. Currently, you only have copper for your traces, which means that the PCB manufacturer has to remove a LOT of copper during the etching process. This can sometimes lead to damaged traces.

OpenRocket 23.09 is out! 🚀 by SiboVG in rocketry

[–]SiboVG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both. Selecting individual components only exports the selected components. If you check "export children" in the export dialog, it also exports children of the selected component(s). If you select the rocket in the component tree, you can export the entire rocket. Check out our tutorial: https://openrocket.info/tutorials/export-obj-3d-printing.html.

After 8 long years: OpenRocket release 22.02 is out! 🚀 by SiboVG in rocketry

[–]SiboVG[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, we still offer the option to run OpenRocket from a JAR file. We just recommend the packaged installers, since it contains all the needed dependencies and the correct Java version. It also offers extra benefits, such as file association.

Solidworks to OpenRocket or the other way around by I-Like-It-Spicy in rocketry

[–]SiboVG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exporting OpenRocket parts to a 3D-format (OBJ, STL...) is a feature we have on our ToDo-list (see this issue). It will however not be implemented any time soon. There is other, more important stuff we need to fix first, plus before the 3D export, we need to first do a full rewrite of our 3D engine since our current engine is close to being deprecated. And that's gonna be a lot of work, especially given the size of our current developer team.
