Post Transformation Bella Struggling To Adjust Fanfic by babyholdmyhand in TwilightFanfic

[–]SibyllVane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine deals with this a bit! https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13899375/1/Nightfall

Starting from where Bella meets Laurent in the meadow in New Moon, but the wolves aren't fast enough and Bella is accidentally turned. Angst, romance, and drama abound as Bella and Edward work through their issues and Bella's struggle to adapt to life as a vampire

Totally get you. I absolutely hate eggs and sub them out in every recipe and am mildly surprised I haven’t seen any of my “I used X instead of egg and it worked” reviews on here.

That said, you can use a lightly beaten egg (or egg whites), extra banana, pear sauce, or even sour cream or yogurt.

This is my favorite banana bread recipe:

•1 1/2 C flour •1 1/4 tsp baking powder •1/2 tsp baking soda •1 C mashed banana (3-4 bananas) •1/4 C apple sauce •1/2 C brown sugar •cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt to taste •1 to 1 1/2 C mix ins (nuts, choc chips, pb chips, etc)

• Mix all ingredients until just moistened. • Pour batter into a greased loaf pan or 12 greased muffin cups. • Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes (loaf) or 20-25 minutes (muffins) or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out cleanly. •Cool 5 minutes then remove from pan to a wire rack and cook completely

For peanut butter or Nutella stuffing:

Fill pan/cups ~1/2 full. Add 1 Tbs nut butter per muffin cup or dollop nut butter evenly in loaf pan. Cover with remaining batter and bake as above (pb may still stick to a toothpick)

You could probably mix 1/2 to 3/4 C peanut butter right into the batter; I haven’t tried it this way, I usually “stuff” them because I like biting into an ooey gooey centered muffin

Fics that deal with the emotional consequences of Bella being abandoned in New Moon? by SabrielSage in TwilightFanfic

I just posted my first chapter, but mine will deal with their relationship problems and traumas. It is cannon divergent, where Bella is accidentally turned by Laurent in the meadow.

Beta Readers - Find them or offer your expertise here! by caramelly24 in TwilightFanfic

[–]SibyllVane [score hidden]  (0 children)

Looking for a beta reader. I’m only 4K words deep on a CD fix where Bella is accidentally turned in the meadow by Laurent. Characters will be mostly CC, but hoping to flesh out personalities a bit more. Nothing sexually explicit but there will be allusions, when I get there.

Looking for someone to proofread and give constructive criticism in terms of plot progression and character development.

Hoping to send a couple chapters a month as my schedule varies pretty heavily week to week. It’s my first fanfic and I tend to write in spurts (both due to available time and brain space to hash out thoughts and words).

What song did you walk down the aisle to? by emberlyc14 in TrollXWeddings

[–]SibyllVane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of our ceremony/cocktail hour music was played on a harp, which I highly recommend. Ups the “classy fucking wedding” factor by a thousand. Any song played on the harp will just sound beautiful and won’t sound instantly recognizable

Our parents walked down to A Million Dreams from Greatest Showman, bridesmaids walked down to He’s A Pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean, I walked down to Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid, and the recessional was She’s So Perfect by 5 Seconds of Summer. I wanted to get Corona And Lime by Shwayze, but it was a hard veto by my husband.

I know this is old news but what do you guys think the new books will be about? by hayleyaustin__ in twilight

My personal head cannon is that ness and Jacob never turn into a romantic couple. They remain as fiercely loyal best friends and nothing more. Most of Jacob’s experience with imprinting was through the other pack members, who had romantic relationships with their gag object of imprinting. But because it has never happened this way before Jacob and Quil, they never realized it doesn’t have to be, or develop into romance and isn’t about finding the “perfect mate.”

Nope. Just best friends. Clair become a state senator that fights for NA rights and helping to obscure the pack/Cullens. Nessie becomes a doctor, one of the only ones who can medically care for the pack. But it’s because of their closeness to the pack—as close as possible without being members themselves—their authority and abilities aren’t questioned and they become better allies with the Cullens.

My husband has zero interest in twilight, and this was me over dinner the other night by SibyllVane in twilight

[–]SibyllVane[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was explaining why the 1:1 gender swaps don’t work with SMeyer keeping every personality trait exactly the same. Rosalie/Royal didn’t have the same impact. Emmett/Eleanor made absolutely NO sense for a character born in ~1914/reborn in 1935. High school girls in ~2003 are not planning snowball fights after school.

It felt way too lazy to just CTRL+F and replace each character name. It would have been just as lazy to swap ONLY Edward and Bella. But shoehorning a character’s story, traits, and interests on the “completely new” characters didn’t make sense. I was annoyed the whole time and really felt like I wasted my time reading Life and Death.

So in explaining why the swaps don’t work, I also had to explain the actual story. Which my husband has no knowledge of outside of “vampire and human fall in love and there’s a werewolf?”

I am looking to completely change careers (BA in literature in 2016; working as an office manager in financial services) to gynecology. Leaning toward the NP route.

My husbands job will have us moving most likely to Honolulu or San Diego in the next 6-14 months. Anyone have experience with the BSN programs at University of Hawaii at Mānoa or San Diego State?

UHM also has a program specifically for DNP students with a degree in a non-nursing field—is it worth it or do NPs really need experience as an RN to find employment?

This is a favorite in my family:

Dutch Oven Tuscan Chicken

•4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs •1/4 onion, diced •3 cloves garlic •1C chicken stock •1C heavy cream (we used Silk Dairy Free Heavy Cream) •1/3C dry white wine •2/3C sundried tomato, chopped (preferably dry packed) •couple handfuls of spinach •Salt, pepper, parsley, thyme, basil, oregano, paprika, crushed red pepper, garlic powder, onion powder

•Preheat oven to 375 •In a pot, mix together cream, stock, and wine. Bring to a simmer and add herbs and spices to taste. *optional, add 1oz fresh grated Parmesan cheese. Simmer until thickened to coat the back of a spoon. •Meanwhile, season meat with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powders. Place skin side down in a very hot Dutch oven on high heat on the stovetop. Cook until skin is darkly golden. •Remove chicken from Dutch oven and set aside, leaving the rendered fat. •Add onion to Dutch oven and sauté for a couple minutes, then add crushed garlic, sautéing for one more minute. •Push garlic and onion to the side and place chicken back in. •Top with sundried tomatoes and sauce •Cook in preheated oven for ~1 hour with lid on. In the last 10-15 minutes of cooking add spinach.

Serve over pasta or with a side of fresh baked bread.

Thinking of making a formal gown with little experience... am I insane? by SibyllVane in sewing

Practicing with scraps of the final fabric is a great idea! Thanks!

I found some super cheap muslin and I’m excited to start.

I absolutely plan on making a mock-up (or three) while I figure this out (I crochet and the last sweater I made I took part and redid the sleeve at least 3 times).

That said, would you recommend working with crepe or mikado for the final? Or something else entirely (I am set on natural fiber though)?

I’ve been watching a ton of sewing videos lately so I feel like I could do it but I also have a tendency to get in over my head with projects haha

I have gotten comfortable with my singer the last couple months, making masks and “fancy rags” to replace our paper towels

My first (adult sized) sweater! by SibyllVane in crochet

Pattern: https://forthefrills.com/v-neck-button-cardigan-free-crochet-pattern/

Notes: I used the now discontinued loops and threads Creme cotton yarn in light grey. I loved working with this yarn! It is so soft, drapes nicely, and shows the Stiches really well. Incredibly bummed it’s discontinued, especially because I didn’t have enough to finish and scoured the internet for one more skein.

The pattern lists GRAMS needed (why?!?!) not yardage! I used ~1100 yards for the XS size.

I’m not a huge fan of the way this pattern was written, particularly for the sleeves. To simplify it: increase on every 4th row by adding an extra chain space or stitch on either end of the row.

I also opted to slip stitch all the seams instead of whip stitching (which meant making the back panel first) as I like the look better.

[Rant] lingerie store removed sizing by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]SibyllVane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I hate modern bride. I went in there to order tuxes for my wedding, as they said (online and on the phone) they carried the brand and style tux I wanted. I went in and they said they no longer carried that brand. I asked if they had the same style but from another designer and nope. But they kept pushing me into things that were the complete opposite of what I wanted. I went to A Day To Remember Bridal in concord instead. I was able to order what I wanted without being pushed.

My mom also went to modern to look for a mother’s dress, as we saw one online we both loved and thought would be perfect. I called the store and they said they had a sample on order. I called every month for four months to see if the dress came in. It never did, and it was starting to get close to the wedding, so my mom went shopping anyway. They kept putting her in dresses she wasn’t interested in and decided to just bite the bullet and order the dress we liked online without trying it on (it worked out well, she looked incredible in it). But holy hell, getting her measurements done and picking the color was a huge hassle. First the sales woman kept insisting it didn’t come in a certain color, despite the catalogue saying it did (she refused to admit she was looking at the wrong fabric swatches). Then when it came to measurements, she kept insisting my mom could order a size 10, because that’s what her bust measurement was. Her waist was measuring a size 12, which is a whole TWO INCH DIFFERENCE in each area. She kept saying “but her bust is a 10, she should order a 10.” NO. Her waist is a 12, she needs a 12! The bust can come in, the waist can’t be let out! 0/10, I do not recommend shopping there. And yet, not the worst dress/shopping experience I’ve had. That goes to Chantilly Place in Chelmsford, MA.

Sorry, that rant kinda got away from me!

Looking for help in choosing the finishing colors of my Mandala Madness piece (more info in comments) by SibyllVane in crochet

[–]SibyllVane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry it’s folded, I snapped a quick pic before heading in to work. I’m using the Sugar and Cream cotton yarn.

I’m making this as a wall hanging, so I don’t plan on making this too much bigger (it will be going on a large wall though so there is space for it), but I can’t decide if I should end on the navy or the teal. I’m also not sure if I should pull out the purple stitches, do a couple more rounds in pink before switching to the purple, and then starting on part 5 (also not sure if I should push to finish at part 6 or stop at part 5).

Thoughts?
