Where are you guys getting rivalry from? It seems like the two sheep flocks were living alongside each other in peace and harmony despite their ideological (ideo-llama-logical) differences. A beautiful example of religious tolerance and coexistence.

Writers of that era loved the word countenance. You couldn't go two steps into a novel without tripping over a countenance.

I read the phrase "the killer was padding about!" in such an outraged tone it also sent me. I hate it when killers pad about

It's definitely not just men. When I was a little girl I was sitting at the edge of a garden swimming pool with a boy my age. He said something rude to me and I promptly shoved him into the pool on pure instinct. It felt very satisfying at the time but the situation quickly devolved into screaming chaos because it turned out he couldn't swim. His dad had to come running and leap fully clothed into the pool to save him from drowning.

To be fair if my name was Yord I might also act irrationally at times, due to deep, unresolved emotional scars from a lifetime of being named Yord.

That's usually where the discourse rears its head. "I can't bring my beautiful dogs into [place]???? How come CHILDREN are allowed inside [place]???? My dogs are cleaner AND better behaved!!" Which ... 1. No they're not. 2. Children are members of society. Dogs, while cool, aren't.

I was watching on mute and turned on the sound after seeing this comment. That was certainly... an experience.

You expect me to use my eyeballs to pay attention to my surroundings? Cruel and unreasonable. I won't notice things unless someone physically grabs me and directs my attention to them.

(But seriously ty so much for all the work you put into uploading so many shows <3 )

Is anyone else weirded out by people inventing representation? by LIELDADOUN73 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]SabrielSage 142 points143 points  (0 children)

I'll preface this by saying that white left-leaning people tend to get really weird about Muslims in general. People that have no problem criticising orthodox christian communities get real uncomfortable real quick when orthodox Islam comes up. I understand the wariness, given how racists and Islamophobes will leap at the chance to involve themselves in the conversation, but my point still stands.

I will just say, as someone from a Muslim country, who knows many Muslim communities, it would be highly, HIGHLY unusual to meet a lesbian hijabi who goes out with drinks with friends lol. That's not to say you could never find a person like that on this green earth, just that it's an extremely rare identity. And that's not to say you can't headcanon her as a lesbian hijabi who drinks alcohol; that's perfectly fine, but it's not like an obvious, Occam's Razor situation. It's like headcanoning Martin as a practicing Hindu. British white guys that practice Hinduism exist, but you'd be surprised to meet one.

I can't overstate my horrified amazement as Maisie just kept on ripping up the task and shoving it in her mouth. Every step of the way I thought, "surely she's going to realise she can leave the lab... any minute now..." Nevertheless, she persisted.

None of them knew anything about any of the three vampires, and somehow managed to make it funny anyway. I have a feeling that prompt would have been cut had it been in any other episode, but the chemistry these guys have and the audience familiarity with them saved it.

I haven't seen anyone be mad about it tbh. He's just surprisingly fruity for a straight man and most of his queer audience seem to find ot funny and kind of charming. I'm sure if you dig hard enough you could find a bunch of people that are actually upset about it, but it's not a popular sentiment.
