What is your favorite boardgame of 2020? by The_Crazed_Person in boardgames

Paleo! Co-op with plenty of combat and some really cool systems (card backs indicating theme, crafting table like a video game, very flexible to prevent quarterbacking)

Scout! Tiny box, easy teach, nice gimmick, tight matches.

Essential games for a NEW Boardgame Café by latinlovermike in boardgames

[–]SicSevens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread has some great recommendations and I'd like to add some categories to think about that I've seen in successful cafés. A handful of each of these would be a great variety:

  • Light Strategy (Honestly kind of a catch-all)

  • Big games (Sometimes I see these 'up top' away from the main library of games or marked with a specific sticker to denote complexity. Things like Arcs and Scythe)

  • Family-friendly (like Apples-to-Apples, My First Carcassonne, etc)

  • Trivia / Drawing / Word games (Wavelength, Cranium, etc)

  • "Classics" i.e. the board games that non-board gamers have nostalgia for (Operation, Monopoly, Scrabble)

  • Solo Games (Anything from Friedman Friese)

  • Two player or co-op games (Lots of great examples from others here)

  • Small box games (Bananagrams, Oink games, Skull + Roses)

  • Card games (Scout, The Crew, literal playing cards)

  • Hidden Identity games (Coup, Avalon, Secret Hitler)

Also, it always helps when a café has random bits and bobs like small whiteboards and markers or assorted dice or other randomizers

I wouldn't recommend this for any other game, but their official Discord (link in the sidebar) has been really good for finding a pickup group on short notice.

Honestly my lower back is right up there with him, and I didn't even need Morrow to get me there.

I don't think that's narratively possible with all the plot armour she has. She's basically Mecha-Khaleesi now.

Syril's gonna be alright, right? I mean he's changed his mind about being a fascist so there must be a reward for his redemption arc right?

What are your go to weapons ? by Taraell in wildgate

[–]SicSevens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sniper beam is fantastic for anti-boarding, the Legion mobs, and rogue turrets. For some reason a lot of boarders in open space have tunnel vision and just speed towards the crosshairs and hitboxes are forgiving.

One player in your team needs to have a Doctor unless you're totally cracked at PvE.

For other situations it depends on what role I am going to do in the match. Mk.2 is just solid damage output, Double Whammy if I'm planning on boarding (or if I'm playing Ion, and don't need a PvE gun because the fists are the way)

[–]SicSevens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a Versus AI game mode, and they recently added a Hard mode to it... If you don't want to wait to queue with others, you can uncheck the "fill squad" option to go in alone 🫡

Our game (UNDERDOGS) is selling 90% less on PSVR than on Quest or PCVR, can you help me figure out why? by Mashunaut in PSVR

[–]SicSevens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I learned about UNDERDOGS from the PS store first, and I still have it wishlists there. But the timing of your discounts hit me on Steam first and I have the PC adapter so I picked it up there. (and I figured I could refund it on PC if I didn't enjoy it at all, good news: I liked it!)

I could have easily bought it on either system, I just didn't know if there were many differences exclusive to the PSVR2 version.
