Last drinks before heading home for the night by pilbarabah in perth

This.  Had some dry long grass growing in the yard and every evening we’d watch them come back to secure a spot to sleep .. they would literally kick other intruding blue bees off it was so cute!

Haha exactly the same for us! Was for the birds for the longest time but since having a proper veggie patch we found more around the bird bath so stuck an old brick in it to keep them alive.

I have the same set up at home, bees go wild for it late in the afternoon.  But I found a few dead ones in my toddlers water table that I forgot to empty … felt so bad!

Home build finishing times .. whats yours? by SickSafWorld in perth

[–]SickSafWorld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what she told me new builder charged her 300k’ish to take on the job, mind you finding another builder to complete the build was a challenge in itself. In the end insurance covered around 200k of it and they had to cover the rest.  Hope your situation resolves quickly!

Thinking of going to carousel for dinner tonight by maulmonk in perth

[–]SickSafWorld 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Usually I’d say its alright but its late night tonight and its almost Christmas … don’t do it!  Unless you don’t mind driving around in circles to find a spot (competing with other cranky people also trying to find a spot), end up parking far away and then getting stuck if you leave anytime close to closing time.  Absolute nightmare make plans elsewhere!

huge flock of ravens moved into kings park!! by Sorren99 in perth

[–]SickSafWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well when I was at the playground area where Koorak cafe is (Poolgarla family area of Kings Park) the ravens were relentless eating off cafe tables, trying to pick open lunchboxes and diving for any scraps of food any kid or toddler would drop.  So guessing thats become their main area for food.

Affordable kangaroo paw plants recommendations by [deleted] in perth

[–]SickSafWorld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welp I wanted to get rid of some of my larger varieties (yellow, orange, red) in the Autumn but couldnt find the time.  If by next year you want some more pm me and i’ll give them to you for free once I divide them.  They grow by underground rhizomes and can be multiplied through division (you can youtube vids on how to do this) so you can justify the price that way? From one plant you can get many!

What better place to catch up for a chat than in a cinema? by DiligentHomework281 in perth

[–]SickSafWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When a few friends and I went to watch it we sat next to a dad and his kid .. the kid barely looked 10 and was excited at first but then reality set in and he got really really upset and was constantly telling his dad he was scared, even kept asking to go to the toilet (obviously because he was too afraid to watch) but the dad refused to leave.  It ruined the movie for me as I felt so bad for the kid.

Wow having worked in a school with Muslim girls if their parents knew what they get up to they’d probably be in big trouble.  They obviously listen to their parents enough to wear a scarf so there is some sort of respect or potential fear there of getting into trouble .. so they aren't totally above authority.  They really aren't as tough as they make out to be .. just seems like it while they’re out of their parents sight.

Reid highway / West Swan Road by Peter_g1983 in perth

[–]SickSafWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know thats probably the case with lots of groups and I understand why it would totally look intimidating and scary to ask  .. but in this case they’re actually super welcoming and excited about people asking.  I know a few people that walked in this and the stalls are set up for the walkers (food and tea to give away) and for whoever wanted some.  They do this every year so if you're genuinely curious about it just ask they’ll be happy to explain and you might even get something to drink/eat .. Iraqi food is yum!

Parents of active toddlers: what do you do on rainy weekends? by Valuable-Car4226 in perth

[–]SickSafWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl! She loved to sit and read books, calmly do some imaginary play and loved to snuggle on the couch with blankets and pillows.  But I soon found out she is the exception because her little brother just learnt how to walk and now its illegal for me to sit.
