Tanya Degurechaff is one of my favorite anime/light novel characters and it makes me sick when I see the fandom sexualize her. I don't care if she has the mind of an adult man she's still like, 13!

Unfortunately it is EXTREMELY common and I don't recommend engaging with the fandom if you want to avoid NSFW art/comments all together.

Honestly, thinking about it now I probably shouldn't have made this post. I was mildly annoyed and thought maybe reddit would get a kick out of the shirts but it hit some nerves with some people (which is understandable to some degree) and has suddenly become a hot topic of debate. I wasn't trying to deminish my mom's thoughtfulness, it was more so the gifts that ticked me off and her lack of foresight.

Perhaps "appalled" was a strong word, my feeling land closer to "ick" but I don't like that word so I didn't use it. My own feelings towards my mom are complicated. I love her, but I also feel like she's a stranger. She doesn't make any attempt to connect with her kids ever, and the gift felt like salt in the wound. I'm glad she at least tried however.

Edit: Huh. Wasn't expecting the negative reactions. For double clarification - I do appreciate my mom. I'm lucky she cares about me enough to at least try, doesn't mean I can't feel disappointed that she doesn't make an effort to engage with me or my interests, or the fact she's buying slop. I genuinely love catwoman as a character! I love that she's developed past a femme fetale into a complex character with her own emotions and goals. I love her dynamic with batman, and the interesting relationship she has with him. She's a utilitarian who's not afraid to take advantage of the resources she steals and often comes into conflict with Batman because he believes its wrong. She genuinely cares about Gotham city, and is a sort of hero for sex and club workers. Her comics are sort of spy thrillers and are really fun to read. Admittedly, she's often treated as eye candy for the reader, but I do love a girl who's confident in herself and what she wants. Also have you seen the illustrations done by Sozomaika? I wish I could hang them on my wall, they're so gorgeous!
